Black Friday threads--do you love them or hate them?

Some folks love threads on Black Friday deals, some hate them. We admins get complaints about them, and then we get a different set of complaints when we address complaints by moving threads to dealer/ad areas of the forum. It's sort of a no-win situation for admins.

May I suggest, on this very short-term seasonal American phenomenon of "Black Friday", that if you like reading these threads, read them, and if you don't like them, ignore them.

The forum does have a policy not to post below-MSRP deals. The difficultly is that the American shopping custom of Black Friday is, really, all about short-term below-MSRP deals of various sorts on all categories of advertised products.

Our head moderator, @Angela M. , will make decisions on what to keep up, what to move/delete, and how long these threads remain visible.

Feel free to share your perspective on "Black Friday" threads here!

Well, I read them but I've never bought anything on any Black Friday deal. They should all be in one place though rather than all over the forum.

I agree! We can easily move them when they're in the incorrect category. You can always reach out to us if you see it before we do. Thanks for your help :)

I think a Black Friday string in the General Discussion for the few days leading up to and during the sale would be very helpful to those seriously shopping.

That's the purpose of forums like this, right? To share, exchange, or provide useful information?

For those involved in the retail sale of these bikes, that have chosen not to participate in a Black Friday program, maybe they'll reconsider when it comes time next year...

I see no harm in this type of information sharing as long as it doesn't turn into outright commercialism. If it helps someone find a deal on an ebike they were wanting, so much the better. If nothing else, it supports the industry.

If you dislike this type of post, do what I do with most commercials. Don't read them.

I'd like to see black friday threads with deals on bike stuff, not just bikes.

I am badly wanting this pair of pliers (KNIPEX 5-inch mini-pliers). So maybe someone out there will have a deal on them.

I do have both a small and a large pair of the Knipex plier wrenches. I mostly use it as a wrench, especially where the plumbing fixture has a polished finished and a regular pliers would mar the finish with its knurled teeth. They also make a great water pump plers that is notched to grab nuts securely.

I have the large Knipex pliers sourced online and the 6" Irwin ones from a trip to Lowe's and I find little to no difference in how they function.

They are very handy to have in the tool box for sure however. But I carry the Irwin's with me while riding because one of my front hub motors requires an 18mm wrench for removal of the axle nuts and they do that while taking up little space in the pack. Plus they will accommodate other sizes I might need also. I feel that they out perform an adjustable wrench for my needs when not close to the comprehensive set of wrenches in my tool box.

Big difference between the Knipex water pump pliers which very closely resemble the Irwins and the Kinpex Pliers/Wrenches that have polished smooth parallel jaws with no knurling, making them suitable for tightening a polished fitting without marring the surface. They also have a more positive, secure grip on the opposing sides of a nut.or bolt head.
