Impressive range people get from the Road-e and Yamaha 500Wh. I never calculated to get more than 60 miles from the 500Wh battery on my Specialized Vado last year. Frequent stops/starts and always carrying rear panniers (though small) on rides in the countryside can of course make a difference. Still the Yamaha seems to be possible to ride economically.30 miles with 1300 feet up the Helderberg Escarpment (near Albany, NY) in the middle of it. Went up the mountain in Normal assist, 3rd gear. 60 miles range left at the end of the ride... I’m keeping this bike!
A road bike is always going to go farther with its lighter weight , skinny tires and more aero positioning. It would be interesting to compare Bosch ,Brose ,Yamaha and Shimano motors on the identical bike with no other variables. That is impressive mileage and a nice looking bike!Impressive range people get from the Road-e and Yamaha 500Wh. Thank you for info. I had only heard about Quick-e and Road-e. The ToughRoad seems great. For the record, that's a new 2018 ToughRoad. Absolutely sensational bike. The range has surpassed any expectations I might have had for my third ebike.
How do you like having no suspension? My Fathom has front but it's a hardtail. For the record, that's a new 2018 ToughRoad. Absolutely sensational bike. The range has surpassed any expectations I might have had for my third ebike.
Thanks for the info! When my tires wear out I'm thinking to get something less knobby/more cross usage style. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on what your Toughroad has. Will probably go tubeless at that point as well. It’s fine so far. It has quite large tires (50) which do a good job of soaking up impact. My last bike had a simple front shock and 38mm tires and was much more abrupt than this.
Only 220 miles on it though, hardly any real off-road yet. My usual trails are all waterlogged - we’ve had flood warnings constantly since I bought it. Things have to dry up sooner or later! I’m really looking forward to getting this out in the weeds a bit.
I like those Fathoms! Giant has a hell of a good line of bikes going.
It is the wind chill factor ...because they ride so fast !I see you're still well wrapped up. Has it not warmed up yet?
