It's been a another rainy, muddy spring here in the northeast but I managed to try out a brand new section of our local Delaware & Hudson Rail Trail yesterday. It was a gray, overcast & cool day but hey, I'll take what I can get these days. I managed 30 miles before more rain moved in.

While I didn't get to stop for photos (my phone camera wouldn't do a great job to begin with...) today's routine commute to work was far more animal-heavy than normal! Normally I have no animal sightings beyond dogs, squirrels and birds of course.

1) A pair of deer wading in Four Mile Run stream. I've never seen deer *in* the water, and the very rare deer sightings on this route have always been at dusk, in a thickly wooded portion of the trail - not out in the open and not full morning light! (Screenshot below shows the green bike route and orange location of deer sighting - very unexpected with the urban density there!)
2) A massive turtle ambling along the paved trail. Easily 18 inches long from head to extended, long tail. I weighed the idea of moving it into the grassy area against keeping my fingers intact, and opted to keep rolling...

It’s been cold for a couple of days. My ride 1st of May was ok but when arriving home at 5.45 pm my feet were a bit cold. No riding yesterday.
Today was cold too, about 6-7°C (43-45°F), but the sun came out for a while so I went for a short ride. First a quick ride into town for an errand and then north to a park just outside town. 14.5 km and the motor used 10% of the battery. I think the cold weather stole some of the battery’s Ah.
Photos from the Haga Park nearby. First 2 photos show the Temple of the Echo built c:a 1790. It was used as summer dining room by the king Gustav lll. Third photos shows the Copper Tents, also built c:a 1790. They were meant to resemble Roman military tents.

I’ve skipped riding today. I really wanted to get out but...

I dwell inside today and wait for tomorrow’s heat wave with temperatures up to 12°C (54°F). :)

Same here, however winds are up to 40mph. Stayed indoors watching Tour de Yorkshire on TV. Racing over North York Moors from Bridlington to Scarborough via Dracula country "Whitby" feel sorry for riders, on such a horrible day.

I was hoping to cycle to the motor racing tomorrow but with a bitterly cold north easterly wind blowing at the moment I thought better of it! The cycling would have been fine but the thought of standing for hours in the cold wind made the decision an easy one! Thankfully I managed to free up some hours today and had a morning and afternoon ride totalling 73.4 miles with over 5000ft of climbing which took me past 1 million feet of climbing since I started using a gps at the end of 2011, actual total is 1,003,540 :) 2019 total is now 1360 miles, I'm happy with that and all going well I should reach my target of 4000 miles!

Ooo, brave man today Rab. What with the wind, showers and temp. It was like winter.
It wasn't too bad here actually, the wind was around 20mph and not gusty so no problems on that front! I did get one shower but it wasn't even enough to wet the roads and 5 layers kept me warm ;)

FIVE layers! I'm not surprised you stayed warm. I wish I had your enthusiasm still.
I hope I never lose my enthusiasm, well I did for a little whle until I discovered the wonderful world of e bikes :D 5 layers is normal for Scotland :p

Rab, it's May. Surely you should be down to only 3 layers by now?
