Light at the end of the tunnel …

Yimbun Tunnel, Brisbane Valle Rail Trail

Yimbun Tunnel
Brisbane Valle Rail Trail
Was it really necessary to tunnel through so puny a hill? My theory, completely unsubstantiated, is that 111 years ago the railway engineers had an excess of the suff that goes Boom! and couldn't resist the temptation of using it up creatively. One could hardly be proud of construsting a branch line without a single tunnel, could one?

Back on my local roads again on a beautiful sunny but very blustery day, on a day like this 40 miles is plenty! With gusts of 30mph and big climbs it was a real battery eater of a day, only 23 miles from my first battery but it was only charged to 81%! Certainly not a day to attempt 100 miles! ;)

I tried to attract the horses attention but they didn't come close, I guess the green lush grass was more to their liking than an old guy on a bike!🤣

This road is very local to me and is a real joy when the weather is nice, the crosswinds were a bit of a pain though but it wasn't too bad!

Back down in the Clyde Valley which was looking resplendent today in the sun!

After Sundays epic this was just what I needed, my legs were a little tired at first but I soon recovered and it was such a fun ride! We are really having a great spell of weather at the moment, long may it last! Unfortunately I only have another 2 days to enjoy it as I will have to look after my dad on my own for a week! I will have Sunday free but its the start of the motor racing season and I won't have time to cycle to it, would love to if I could though...I haven't ruled it out yet!🤞

we went on a ride the portland peddle paluza. happens once a year. first time we got to ride in it. it was 97 degrees out and I had already ridden 20 miles on my commute. well this added another 20 miles but it was fun and there was a s*it ton of people hundreds rode on all kinds of bikes. it was hard to to take pics since we were pretty much riding the whole time at 6.5 mph. we zig zagged all over the place and ended up going right by my shop that I left a couple of hours ago. I thought we were the only ones on a tandem but saw another one towards the end.

The Banff Legacy Trail is a paved cycling/pedestrian roadway that runs through some of the most scenic areas within the confines of this picturesque national park. Cycling in either direction (Canmore <-> Banff) offers great vistas regardless. My wife and I have ridden the Trail before and on this Monday morning, my sister and BIL from Calgary decided that they would like to join us. We decided instead to opt for an even more scenic route by riding underneath the Trans Canada Highway to the other side via an underpass and cycle the Lake Minnewanka Loop which would include several stops along the way. We met up at the Canmore Visitors Center and rode the Legacy Trail from there.

The view even where we stopped for a morning dose of coffee was pretty sweet.

My sister rode her Vado 4 and both my wife and I saddled up on our Creos. My BIL rode my Trance E as he was the only one in the group without a power assisted ride. We stopped at Cascade Ponds for a family photo.

Cascade Ponds – A wonderful place to stop for lunch and take in the surroundings. The ponds are named after the mountain that towers over them.

Our next stopover was Johnson Lake. It's only a 2km ride off from the main loop and makes a worthwhile side trip. A nice place for a day paddle or casual stroll.

Two Jack Lake – This small lake brings back childhood memories when my dad used to take us here on family outings/camping. It’s a fry cry from what it used to be like as there were fewer amenities back then.

Lake Minnewanka – Our final stop before pushing off on the return leg back to towards Canmore.

Considering that it was a weekday, the traffic along the scenic loop was pleasantly light and of minor concern on this day. :)

Chiggars? I just looked them up but had not heard of them? Are they bright red like the pics? They look annoying!
They are tiny. You would have to look hard to ever see one. I don't know if all are red but yeah they are red. The little welt they leave on your skin itches for days if untreated. Scratching at the area makes them worse. They like to do their damage in the most sensitive areas.
