Well, my sister, full vacicnated in LA County, had a bad cold earlier this week. Since she takes care of her grandson, she decided to check with a Covid test in case it was a "break through." Results, well, it was NOT covid but it was another Corona virus, not just a common cold. Her doc recommended quarantine for a week. She's feeling much better. I did not think that they generally look for other corona virus strains!

I've read in several publications that cold and other NON-Covid-19 upper respiratory infections are especially bad this summer. Both sister and brother-in-law had them and were miserable for days. Brother-in-law has COPD, so he was especially sick.

I'm thinking about masking up in public again...

Today's "urban" Seattle adventure riding along the Ship Canal Trail to Discovery Park, Smith Cove Park with views of low tide and cruise ships readying for, well, cruising.

A barely wide enough pedestrian/bike bridge over railroad tracks and makes a double jog. Expedia's new, very empty campus, Myrtle Edwards Park along the shoreline just north of downtown Seattle. A view of an almost obscured Mt Rainier (14,410 feet) volcano.

A view from another roomier bridge over tracks of "Upon, Adjacent, Next To or Nearby or Close Up" (1% for Art: "In December 1976, Michael Heizer (b. 1944) completes installation of his minimalist sculpture Adjacent, Against, Upon in Seattle's Myrtle Edwards Park. At the time of its unveiling, the set of three blocks of granite resting on or near concrete slabs stirs controversy over its concept and costs. Then up a steep pitch to Seattle Center and the Space Needle. The bike path skirting the road and bus stop. Me in my new helmet at home.

Nice to see Seattle on a beautiful sunny day! Pretty gorgeous up here on Whidbey, too... Unfortunately, something is wrong with my back so can't take advantage and ride . Icing and heating and maybe tomorrow!

That was not me. Although I do admit to violating the pedestrian (the path to the right) and the bike path rules. I really prefer the view from the water hugging pedestrian path and always take it if not too crowded (and get corrected "The bike path is over THERE!!!") I almost did detour up to the sculpture park on its gravel path but weekends are too crowded. I'm on a Specialized Creo - a road bike.

No, not me. My fabric skills are limited to sewing hems (badly, with puckers) and buttons (ugly, but those suckers will NEVER come off again!) .

Today I managed to sew 2 button holes in my biking shorts back pockets using a sewing machine (a first). Without the instructions. Now I have to learn buttons, and figure out how to swap out the thread for a different color. At least it wasn’t pre-loaded with pink!

@Stefan Mikes Huge congratulations on completing your first ever imperial century, I knew you would manage it one day!

I was supposed to be going to the car racing today but dad was having a rough morning so I decided to knock it on the head and just go for a morning ride while it was cooler! It turned out to be a fantastic 50 miler with a lot of climbing and a lot of descending, I was a bit shocked at my average speed with so much climbing! I tried a couple of new roads today that I have passed by many times but never got round to testing them, one turned out to be a huge climb which I will be looking forward to descending soon as it was pretty smooth!

The other was pretty awesome until I came to a big descent and the road was extremely rough with holes everywhere and it was lined with trees which made it hard to spot the holes, it will be much better in the opposite direction! Its always good to get a little adventurous sometimes!

The Clyde Valley was looking lovely in the sun today!

The ride more than made up for my disappointment at missing the racing, lots more racing to come anyway and cycling of course! July has certainly been a great month weather wise, some rain and cooler temps coming this week though but I'm not complaining!

After a very busy last two months office relocating from Belgium to Athens (woohoo!)I finally had the time for a Sunday roll through Athens agora. Some pics I took today at various locations. As many of you already know there are literally hundreds of archaeological sites in Athens alone so of course these are just some of the sites close to my home in nearby kolonaki.

I didn't edit them out however.

I was riding around early morning to around 2pm, the hottest part of the day. It's also Sunday so local vehicle traffic and local foot traffic is a lot less with most shops & businesses closed and most locals and tourists at the beaches in the Athens Riviera 10km south. Some of the shots were several hundred meters above sea level at Philopappou hill, Pynx hill and Hill of the Muses. The Northern European tourists and Canadiens can't handle the Athenian heat at that time so the only tourists that were around were Americans and Spaniards who handle the heat well and I kindly asked them to step away from the monuments while I took my photos.

Years ago a friend suggested getting a Frostline Down Bootie kit. So I went over to her house with the kit. I handed the materials to her. She quickly handed them back to me, pulled out the chair and sat me in front of her sewing machine. Damn Women's Lib!!! (g) I'm still sewing these many decades later and actually have the sewing machine my mom bought just after I was born. Most of my sewing is "who cares what it looks like - just get it done" style. I've altered camping gear, added down to a sleeping bag to beef it up. I have never attempted button holes - you are to be commended.

Postcards From My First Kayaking In Almost 40 Years

To my defence, I have to say I rode on my Vado SL (61.7 km in 2 h 41 min) both to and from Renata's place The village of Sobieski, to where we rode together just a week ago is one of kayaking centres on River Wkra. (This time, Renata took us there with her car).

I wonder why men always take the back-seat in a kayak

I forgot taking mineral water with me. We stopped in Joniec, I climbed a hill to buy water and this despicable "no-beer" at a bar. So-called IPA seen here is a disgrace (actually it was a lager as Żywiec cannot handle top-fermentation process).

The river was full of kayakers!

It looks I have found another pastime for me (but e-biking will remain my main passion!)
