That Thousand Helmet does look nice! I wonder how much airflow a rider gets while riding in warmer weather. It would make a great helmet for our long rainy season and cold winter months.

You probably saw some helmets from the Heritage line up, they also have a MIPS line up and they look great! Check out their website!

Plenty of air flow with the Heritage and its great in winter also, i cant speak for the MIPS because i don't own any.......yet!

When I fall off a bike, I always hit my chin and arms. Never the top, sides or back of my head. I've spilled over the handlebars 6 times. So I am less concerned about MIPS than an effective & permanent chin guard. I have one in my yellow & white Fox Rampage from competitivecyclist.com It has plenty of vents for summer heat. If I were you, a chin guard would be tops on my list too! I’ve only gone over handlebars once and that was when I was a kid. I wasn’t wearing a helmet and the no-grip handlebar end made a scar just below the nipple that I still have today.

I just got my Lumos Ultra helmet and you can tell it's a much beefier helmet than what I had on the road bike. I love the flashing lights front and back. It came with a remote for signals but I've never used it. I think motorists respond more to hand signals than signal lights on your helmet. I look at the flashing lights as making a motorist more aware of me on a bike. You can make the front light brighter with the app, but I seldom ride in the dark, yet. Maybe by September....

What do you think of it? Is it great? For urban riding...@DandyD Knowing what bike you are getting i would recommend a Bell Super 3R.
As you will be commuting and going off road the removable chin bar will allow you wear it without to commute and strap it back on for a full face at weekends etc
After i OTB'd a few months ago i got a Seven iDP Project 23 Carbon, not recommending you get one but as everyone else is sharing....

It's an amazing helmet for my needs, huge airflow, wide field of vision and a great fit, but i spend all my time off road in sketchy locations doing sketchy things so it doesn't exactly give off an urban look

Sena M1 - it’s supposedly for mountain biking, but I think it fits my mixed environment. Has Bluetooth speaker, microphone, intercom, FM radio, lights in the back.
I think MIPS is a marketing sham btw.
