X7 discussion

Wow thanks for all the first experiences and tips! I read that it would come 80% assembled but I just thought that meant putting the front wheel on, sounds like a little more! But it sounds like it pays off to do it right and get it working smooth! Im so excited for coming home from work tomorrow haha.

How do the tires seem? They say they were anti-puncture but I got some tire inserts and slime just in case.

And did it come with the fenders and rack? They stated they would be separate but I havent had any notice of a second package yet.

oh and for me at least, theres a green button that says “Attach files” right above the “post reply” button. Thats how I added photos before.

Happy to hear it came and its real and so far so good for the most part!

The tires are good but no anti puncture. The fenders and Rack will be later and I'm in no hurry. Won't be riding in the rain and have a backpack. There is no Instructions manual for the bike or controller. It is the wild west with these Chinese ebikes. I do like the ride, size and looks of these fatties.

Thanks for the tip for photos. The attach files button is so subtle ... :-o

Congrats on your bike. I am new to eBikes and haven’t biked much for a while. I just got mine yesterday too and my box was in similar shape to yours. i am not a mechanic so it was probably a little tougher for me to put it together than your experience. (I had a tough time getting one of the bolts off the front rim to fit it on the forks.) I put the disk brake on after I put the front tire on and it seems like it is rubbing a bit. Do you think removing it all and putting it on like you stated would help with that?

Have you had success turning the light on? Like you mentioned no manual for the controller so I can’t figure out more than turning it on and increasing or decreasing the peddle assist.

Thanks again for the details on the shipping and assembly.

Re the brakes, just loosen the two caliper bolts, apply the front brakes and re-tighten the caliper bolts and you should be good. I too can't figure the lights out. Maybe someone can assist with that small detail.

I found the light switch ... it is on the right side of the controller next to the minus button. Also took some daylight pics of the ebike today and noticed the cadence sensor looked like it was separated from the crank housing. does your look like that?

After a couple grueling hours of assembling and tinkering to get just right, and putting in Mr Tuffy liners, I finally got mine and did a little testing... and so far... I’m IN LOVE!

Took me a while to make sense of the rushed demo video and getting the brakes set good. And my derailleur was also slightly bent in, but a little bend back and it was all good.

I also found the light switch and other side button that you can toggle some stats. Pressing and holding the + and - button seemed to go into a deeper menu but I didnt know what was what in that part. The thing rips though! And destroy the massive incline hill on my road that nothing else beside a car has been able to handle so effortlessly.

Everything feels pretty comfortable, shocks, seat, grips. Pedals feel slightly like my feet are going to slide outward though.

Im assuming the little sleeve goes under the chain. And I also have 4 screws and a couple washers I neevr used. Not sure what those were for, they seemed to fit the rack area holes though.

Also seems like you can’t lock the bike from turning on with the key in any position. Its either key and battery locked in, battery locked in, or battery unlocked. But in all key settings if the battery is in then the bike can be started and throttled. Not a big deal though, just gotta take the battery out to be extra safe.
It also feels lighter than I was expecting it too which is nice.

Thanks again RMK! for the initial tips, although it took me awhile and I struggled assembling, your tips still helped!

I didnt get many action or daylight pics but soon!
Also the rim tape inside the tires was pretty flimsy, I will probably replace that with some gorilla tape at some point, as well as put some slime in just to put getting a flat at less odds.

Oh and you can really feel the battery regen kick in and resist you, which I like. It feels like it’ll actually generate some good charge if desired, and give more motivation/better workout if desired to charge it back up yourself. Need to play around with it more though.

Biggest gripes so far are it doesnt seem as waterproof as I was hoping, but could be easily enhanced. And
The handlebat stem seems to have some give/movement when the bike is lifted up making a small clicking noise. Could probably damped that somehow.

Ah, and lastly, its awesome folded up! You can roll/dolly it even fairly easily. Great space saver!

So far so good!

Could you take a pic of your cadence sensor? I have a gap on mine and wonder if that is normal.

OK. being impatient, lacking documentation or any meaningful support and, considering that the cadence sensor was loose (that can't be normal), I decided to try gently tapping the cadence sensor into the crank housing. I then put a small amount of silicon adhesive in the remaining very small gap. Now it looks "normal" and hopefully this will take care of the issue. One of the many challenges of bargain Chinese bike ownership. :)

Sorry I got caught up at work and havent been able to snap a pic and check my cadence sensor yet. But looks like you got it under control. I’ll update later on how mine is.

Sorry I haven’t been able to snap a picture of mine either. Was going to try after work today. Mine has a small gap But I don’t think it is loose, but the gap is not as wide as yours looks in you pic. I think yours looks much better in your after pic. Will try and add a pic of mine tonight. Oh and thanks for the info on the light. Any luck on doing any programming on the controller? I emailed them about a manual for the controller but haven’t heard anything back.

Thanks,

About to go on a 20 mile ride and I hope everything works. Re the controller, just pushing the + and - buttons simultaneously get you the settings menu which is useless without a guide for the many program modes. Crazy to ship this product without that manual ... I'm guessing they are waiting to translate it. I was expecting the same controller that they use on the X6. I believe that controller has a much easier to navigate settings menu.

Just finished a 26 mile ride by the river. Probably averaged 20+ mph (28 mph is an easy get using pedal assist 3 in 8th gear) on paved bike trail and some streets. I used pedal assist 2 most of the way and was easy pedaling (passed a few road bikes) at 20-24 mph. Some gear changing for the big hills but mostly it was a very easy pace. There were 2 bars left on the battery so I'm thinking the range will be 30-35 miles when ridden like I did today.

I stopped at a local bike shop and they were loading up a couple of very nice ($5K+) 26" ebikes for a customer. I was just checking to see if they would service the bike and they were happy to (excluding the motor). The Eahora was getting quite a bit of attention especially when I told them the price.

The cadence sensor stayed put so looks like that's resolved. I'm kinda liking this little fat tire bruiser ...

Here is a picture of my cadence sensor. After careful inspection there is a gap in there. Probably just like yours.

Question. I found the button for the light but I can’t turn it on. Just wondering if my light is broken. Is there a special trick to turning it on?

Thanks for your photo. My concern was water getting into this gap (my cadence sensor was actually loose) so I Gently tapped it into place. I then used silicone adhesive to seal it. That is what I did without really knowing if it would work. Seems to work fine ... YMMV.
As to the light, you have to power up the controller in order for the light to work. If you did, then you must have a bad light or wiring.

Hope you get to go on a ride soon (maybe not at night ;-)). That should make these small issues seem insignificant.

Looks like mine was the same, small gap. I’m going to try and push in and seal as well

These one piece pedal sensors will spin no matter where they are located on the bottom bracket axle, but it will look cleaner if you press them up against the frame.

Lordy I hope that gap isn't as designed. I've seen other brands use this same 12 magnet sensor and my recollection is they looked like mine looks now. I noticed surging of the cadence power using Level 1PAS at slow speed. I'm thinking that my loose sensor was the issue. After a good long ride today the cadence sensor performed perfectly as did the bike overall.

Thanks again for all your assistance. I played around with the light more and got it to work. I don’t know if yours is different, but I had to hit the negative button first then the one on the side and the light came on. Only way I was able to power it off was to power off the controller. Hope to be able to take it for a spin soon. Keep up with your experiences. I think it is helping all us X7 owners.

There won't be any spinning with the wire coming out of the sensor like this. The Eahora cadence sensor is just like this one except on our bikes, the wire exits the bottom vs the top in this photo. The Rattan bike in the photo uses the same motor and brakes as well.

Mine is just power on the controller, push the light button for on, push again for off.

BTW, the button above the light button will toggle through the various display settings (ex odometer, trip mileage, voltage, max speed). I have made at least 3 email requests for a controller manual ... radio silence thus far.
