Calling myself a novice is an underwhelming sense of my experience in the 'leccy bike world, saying that I have ridden two and four cylinders for a while.

I have an idea to begin a journey into this ev frontier with one or two small projects. I kind of made up my mind to put a Bafang BBS02B in a 2013 Scott P2 frame that needs a new drive train.

After a week or two of building a parts list I got a growing idea of putting a front wheel drive on a 2013 Felt Qx I have not ridden much.

I'm looking for 20mph/17.5am-h/250-350v on either of those frames. Used for shopping trips and camping trips and an occasional lazy commute. Plug and play is what I'm expecting so I'm open to hearing some real reflections and ideas about what to consider to get things working smooth from the start thanks.

Yes but that doesn't seema fun trip without much learning on the way. My plan is to be sitting on my home-made electric motorbike in 3 years of building up bikes and knowledge.

Yes, thanks for the comparison chart Timpo, I was thinking of the Bafang range but I recently saw there's been an update to their kits and I would have to use their batteries and controllers....Not sure how many motors are being closed out this way but it doesn't immediately appeal to me. I need to learn more about the way they lock their kit.

I would prefer to buy second-hand so being able to interchange parts seems a necessary feature. It would be sweet to find lots of spare parts but I've heard reports of stock for early version motors drying up.

Now after all that I'm thinking of starting with a ratty conversion of an old Sirrus.

Try the TZD kits? The last time I tried to buy one it was lost "en route" or shipping, they make(or made) a 350 watt model( with torque sensor) had a trike with one for a while, climbing was not an issue.

Does the Scott mount a disc brake? Good to have one in front at least..

That's not good, I would not want to be stuck with Bafang battery, less option in the future.
How does it restrict it?
I just watched that video that I posted, and at approx. 7:57, the video talks about power cable (Anderson connector?) and communication able.
Is that how it's restricting? So the battery has to have a communication cable in order for that battery to work?

I'll try and find the video with info about this and post back.

Yes front and back. The Sirrus is v brake all round but I could add a disc fork
