If you can put up a couple of pics how it connects that would be great. I think I'd like to do the same thing. The new CA 3 looks really nice. Maybe time to try that one out.
 
First look at my new Falco build.



Really cool to see your new build Bike_On. You were one of the reasons I bought my Falco system. I actually looked at getting that exact Trek DS that you picked out for my second build. My Binachi hard tail is exactly that, hard on the tail. Does the rear suspension help much?

The ISO zone and thud buster helps to smooth out the ride where the road has a few bumps. They are not good for jumping off curbs or off road.

Edit update: I AM noticing a smoother ride. Between the two part suspension, it does help. My rear can still get tired - it's out of shape! I get annoyed with the battery rattle over bumps. I have added closed cell foam to dampen the plastic noise. A heavy rear hub does NOT like a hard hit in the rear. Nothing good happens when a rear hub hits a bump at high speeds.!

I have been playing with the parameters to get the right feel. I got a NEW wheel from Falco. It was $150 to lace it up. The awesome thing about Falco and I assume ST2 Stromers is the confidence that one can adjust the power delivery to be exactly what you want and you are not stuck with a mismatched system.

Of course this is still a ddhub, so adjust expectations accordingly.

I'm really liking the new firmware update I got a couple of weeks ago. I've pretty much left it stock. Not sure if it's the same one as you have though. It basically leaves the motor "ON" after you hit about 25 mph similar to a cadence sensor. It's all but eliminated high speed surging on the Torque Sensor. I should point out that I upgraded to the 48V battery at the same time, so it's hard to discern where all the improvements came from. I imagine a combo of both.

The ST1 Stromer is also adjustable on the power levels and when they kick in.

As for the CA, part of the trick is securing the extra cabling where the pedals pass, and using Velcro .
I found that zip ties become like if one need to fix a flat.

Really? I was thinking that wasn't too bad. I paid $100.00 to have a rim laced back in 1975. Considering how long it takes, I fully expected it to be a lot more now. I guess it probably depends on what part of the country you're in and what shop you use.

Was that including the cost of the spokes? I paid $55 in labor the lacing/truing, but I brought the spokes. Right of course about regional pricing differences, but x 3 is quite a bit.

Well Falcon did. I actually got my motor replaced because a flange broke off. So it is a complete replacement for $150+shipping. I didn't ask until it was done.
 
Ride Report for 6/11/15:

I have been tweeking the Motor parameters using the Falco 1.4 GUI. I hit a very nice sweet spot last night and enjoyed a great 17 mile ride in today. I also wired up my throttle and found a spot on the right handlebar end. I used the throttle to tuck on down hills once up to speed.

The PAS response allowed me to keep in the upper teens, low 20's on hills. Also, the motor had a nice off-delay time. It felt natural with a boost.

I did 17.01 mile sin 47:28 for a 21.5 mph average. I have a remote lockout on my forks, which I used back and forth for power vs smooth riding.

Note on suspension. Ok, the Trek DS 8.5 is a fast and light multi use bike. That said, I can tell it is not up to par for a 20+ commuting ebike. Whether 36V or a faster 48V system, the speed and weight is demanding better components. The mechanical Suntour forks are BARELY good enough to provide a stable, smooth ride. The thudbuster and Gary Fisher ISO zone are BARELY enough rear suspension at 25-30mph, but they help and it is quite noticeable compared to my previous aluminum/carbon fork road bike build.
Conclusion: For dd hubs and high speed 48V systems, go with high quality FOX or Rockshock forks. No need to skimp. Go with a study frame. Rear suspension? Yes, it you don't mind the extra weight. Now you are talking a full mtn conversion that has small chain rings! A steel framed bike and thudbuster is another consideration. Thus, the ST2, Spec Turbo, Focus bikes come to mind as examples of there the customer will go for high speed, ddhub designs.

I think my setup is fine if I used the 20- limit and kept my average at 17-18 mph.

PSS. About the brake: Hydraulic disk, Shimano I think. These are BARELY ok for the speed. I don't think they are high quality to last. Get quality disk brakes with replaceable pads.

This system can really function without a throttle, Falco console and +/- (Loose regen). If tuned right, it is great.

The regen actually worked very well. I did very little breaking on my ride it.

We have very few hills here and so far in between. I never remember to button down for regen and frankly it's a pita to have to do that. My Stromer goes into regen at the tap of the brakes. tap to initiate re-gen and never actually on enough to have to brake very often. That needs to become a standard setup IMO.

I agree, it is not as easy to activate. Brake activators are convenient, but extra wire/weight. I'm torn. More stuff, more issues.

I added my throttle back on yesterday and wow, what a perk. I must be human laziness, but having the option to kick it up makes the riding so much nicer.
