Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Really nice!
Excellent example of ebike riding etiquette, in a single formation. I don't like riders with bad habits of congesting the path.

Packed like sardines…

Toogoolawah, SE Queensland

This was an Electric Bikes Brisbane* ride for around twenty-five clients and five staff. We rode up the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail to Toogoolawah, but made the return trip was by coach, courtesy of Out There Cycling. I'm pleased to see that their business is growing. So important!

Double the apparent number of ebikes on the trailer as they were stacked in alternate directions. Now, almost double that again because there was a second bus (empty, except for the driver) with a similar trailer (full). The thirty of us were also full after a pub lunch!

* I doubt that there's a better electric bike store anywhere else in the southern hemisphere.

Six ebikes, all in a row…
Packed like sardines…
I loved these e-bike related pictures! Especially the "Six ebikes" with its dynamics and the locomotive mural!
@David Berry: Sometimes I show your pictures on my Facebook wall (telling my Friends who took the photos) as these are so exotic and interesting!

And beer!
Only in the Czech Republic! I don't drink alcohol on my rides elsewhere, seriously. I don't judge other people if they do so though. Regarding ice-cream... Ice-cream you can get in Poland recently is just delicious. I don't know what has caused that improvement but it is hard for me to refuse it :)

On the local rail trail (which runs 10 miles from one LBS to another ) thre are two businesses. A Brewery and an Ice Cream Shop. Coincidence? 😒

The old steam locomotive has been painted on the side of a condemned shipping container that was donated to the Lowood friends of the rail trail group which have planted a one-kilometre long stretch of the trail with native plants.

Take a closer look at the animals which were added to the painting after it had been completed (top to bottom; left to right):
  • rainbow lorikeets — against the smoke
  • carpet snake (python); willie wagtail (insect catcher) — on the locomotive's boiler handrail
  • koala — cab window
  • gull (yes, they're local); galah (pink & grey parrot) — tender
  • lace monitor (lizard); magpie; eastern grey kangaroo — grass

Indeed! David, please please please: Could you take a detailed photo of that mural? Or, several detailed pictures?

One of my riding mates, Staszek The Roadie calls his hobby "Romantic Road Cycling" :) Yes, he typically makes 200 km on a ride but it is more of "tourism" for him than of "performance" even if he often rides in a peloton. Staszek visits places offering "good vittles" on his major ride rests :) I love his Strava ride descriptions such as "Just to visit my parents for a dinner" and bah -- a 250 km ride! :D

Did you know Art "POC" (Poważne Obrażenia Ciała) translated to "Grievous Bodily Harm" (GBH)? :) I shudder to think I would be to ride the trails you've ridden!
POC - Piece Of Cake. At least that’s what I believe this Swedish protection company’s acronym stands for. Even though we logged very little mileage on this trip, it sure didn’t feel like a POC afterwards. 😵

Definitely gonna feel the burn tomorrow, Stefan. We all felt the impact of the downhill descents as the singletracks were riddled with rocks both loose, imbedded into and jutting out of the ground. Despite riding FS e-MTBs the climbs to the top of each run then down again began to take their toll on our aging bodies. Otherwise, the weather was awesome, all runs were clean and no casualties, unanticipated field repairs OR BEAR 🐻 sightings to speak of. It was just a great day to get out in the wilderness and attempt to ride some different trails with a few good friends.

Not really interested in my passing…

20l9 R&M Homage Rohloff

Sunday's ride on the rail trail involved an early start and a late return, both on my own, with a thoroughly enjoyable social ride with almost thirty other ebikers separating them. The image above is from part of the ride when the only company I had was a mob of not always Always like your photos just mind-blowing. Every Time it's make me desire to go those places

Icy cold up there?

Bramble Bay

Bramble Bay, seen from Woody Point

Two paddleboarders, an anchored yacht and me. I sat on the grass (needs rain!) and enjoyed a hot slightly warm chocolate drink that I had brought with me.

For some reason, I forgot to meditate on the meaning of life and the universe. Perhaps, there wasn't any need to.

The answer to life, the universe, and everything is always ASCII 42; the code for the asterisk, the wildcard character. Remember *.* from DOS ?
