Making a Rad bike a class 1

That is why bikes like Rad, Juiced, Pedego etc. all spec throttles because they follow the Federal US regulations that have been in place here for years
I understand that Pedego did a lot of lobbying on US ebike laws to keep that throttle in there for Class 2--their concern is riders who may need that level of assistance, so that ebiking becomes more widely available to people with various (dis)abilities. It doesn't make sense to make a throttle into a problem when the bike can't go faster than the Class 1 bike anyway.

That said, when we got our class 2 ebikes, I was concerned that my teen who has a disability would not pedal, but would just ride the throttle. Pedego removed the throttle from his bike for me. After he learned to ride it well, I had them put the throttle back on (basically it was still there, just disconnected, with the grip removed and a longer hand-grip put on in place of the throttle grip.)
