Let's Ride Together (Ebike gangs 😉)

Do you mean that the bike has arrived and if so, after it is assembled post a photo, because that is a beautiful bike.

I didn't end up getting my La Free E+2 until last December, when my LBS had a great sale going on! Only rode for about 2 months before heading to our second home in NC, where I've really missed it - especially after the lockdown started!!! Have been making do with an old classic Raleigh Sport acoustic that a neighbor gave me, but it's not the same. Looking forward to returning to the beautiful PNW in a couple of weeks, and getting back on the saddle and the back roads of Whidbey Island!

In a specific thread as this is on topic is stronglry encouraged. Please don’t reply just back on topic.

The specific topic is people wanting to ride together - I was the person who initiated the topic last fall before I got my bike. The thread got buried because people stopped responding (because it was winter?). Someone was looking for the thread this morning, so I hunted it down and posted in it so it would appear again.

I apologize for responding "off topic" to my own thread in response to a specific question about my bike 😱. I will endeavor, from now on, to police my thread diligently to ensure that no one ever goes "off topic" ever, ever, ever again .

And now, back to folks wanting to ride together, AKA "Ebike Gangs". Stay on topic, people ☝;)!

I would like to go off topic for a moment to complain about people going off topic on threads. This can cause the thread to go off topic and people can lose the topic.

RECAP (and to get back on topic):

Before this thread went into hibernation for the winter, we had riders interested in group riding from the following areas:

British Columbia, CA

WA state - both sides of the Cascades, and from Island County to near the OR border.

OR - near Portland

MA - South of Boston

NY - Queens

VA - Fredericksburg area

GA - Atlanta area

Australia - the Melbourne area

Check back in page one of responses to locate who is where...

Not sure how this will work during the time of Pandemic, but if social distancing can be maintained and folks are still interested in group riding (or, forming a "Gang"), continue to post here - we'll see how it goes :). Also, if someone has already posted in your area, please reply to their comment if you're interested.

Optimistically looking forward to the end of the pandemic and I would really like to meet up with other riders and go for a ride. I'm in BC, but would be willing to travel to WA and OR, assuming pandemic has subsided. I'd also like to know what speed the group thinks they'll travel. I'd like my wife to join but she only has a conventional bike and isn't interested in an ebike, at least not for now.

Looking for an e-bike group to ride with? Want to start a group? Already belong to a group? Post here! Please include the Country/Region/State/Area/Type of riding (road/paved trail, mountain bike, etc.) you're interested in to connect with other e-riders. And, thanks, Steve Mercier, for the suggestion of what to call ourselves 😁!

For we seniors, how about SOB's (seniors on bikes)? I'm in Mt. Laurel, NJ. In the last 25 years, I have only seen 1 ebike, and it was a DIY! This is a great suburban area (albeit only 15 miles to Philly) to ride. Anybody else in the area want to 'start something'? South Jersey SOB's?

Mt. Laurel in South Jersey. I'm in. How about SOB's (Seniors on Bikes) for older riders?

I’m south of Boston and would like to get together for group rides. I enjoy the rail trails in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I’m a senior but it makes no difference to me who would be interested.

Remember, if you see folks in your area looking to ride, and you are interested in riding, respond to each other ;).

I am going to ride the trail that starts north of Osoyoos to Oliver when/if they let us into BC.

In January, a friend and I drove to Osoyoos for lunch and a look around In the famous? hardware store. I picked up some tourist info on trails.

For longer distances of travel, I have a Tiny Travel Trailer that is totally self contained, but I also have the Demon Dog to contend with.

I'm hoping to be back in WA in a couple of weeks. We need to get a bike rack so we can transport to non-local locations - looking at the Tommy Thompson/March Point route from Anacortes for one of our first forays.

I have a long and growing bucket list of rides I'd like to do, especially when the stay-home stay-safe orders are lifted and nonessential travel is again permitted:

Close to home:
  • Benson Creek Road/Paradise Valley Road -- from south of Twisp, WA to Brewster, WA
  • From South Fork Gold Creek Sno-Park up, up, and up to Grade Creek Road and Coyote Spring
  • Anything on the network of back roads south of Chesaw, WA, east of Havilah, WA, and northwest of Republic, WA
  • Cub Creek + Banker Pass + Goat Creek + Wolf Creek Road -- north and northwest of Winthrop, WA. Need to hit this soon before it is full of cows!
Somewhat further away:
  • Coluckum/Quilomene area, between Wenatchee, WA and Vantage, WA -- this is probably shot for the year because it is going to be much too hot
  • Centennial trail in WA from Snohomish, WA to Lake McMurray, WA. Then continue on roads to Conway, WA, La Conner, WA, and on to Anacortes, WA. Certainly via the Tommy Thompson Trail and March Point.
  • Orcas Island -- Killebrew Lake Road, Dolphin Bay Road, Enchanted Forest Road, Mount Constitution.
  • Whale Watch Point (actually Lime Kiln Point State Park) and English Camp on San Juan Island
  • Anything on Lopez or Guemes Island
Out of state:
  • Salt Spring Island and Pender Island, BC
  • Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, BC
  • Kettle Valley rail-trail north and east of Penticton, BC
  • Crooked River Scenic Bikeway, OR
  • Painted Hills Scenic Bikeway, OR
  • OId West Scenic Bikeway, OR
  • Around Steens Mountain, OR (including Diamond, OR, Frenchglen, OR, and Fields, OR).
  • Oregon Outback east of Prineville, OR
  • Oregon Timber Trail where it is legal to e-bike
  • Halfway, OR to Joseph, OR (I doubt I have the batteries for this on my current bike)
  • Troy, OR to Pomeroy, WA (ditto)
  • Whitefish Divide -- from the Flathead River Valley to Eureka, MT
  • From Priest Lake, ID (or Nordman, ID) to Ione, WA
That should keep me busy for a few years...

A friend has talked about riding from the Loup summit south and then down the Benson Cr. Road. I am not holding my breath. It would be interesting as I haven't been in that part of the country since the mid 1980s.

We are a Couple of SOBs in central Pennsylvania, halfway between Harrisburg and Williamsport on the Susquehanna river. We plan to be exploring within a few hundred miles of here takes in the Grand Canyon, the GAP, Pine Creek, the Endless Mountains, Bald Eagle park and State College, or south to Landcaster Amish country, Hershey Candy tours. We are husband and wife with 2 new ebikes and a campervan for support, available for long weekends. Love to meetup with others in Pennsylvania.
