2) From around 2.5-6k, maybe 7k max. :

Gazelle, Kalkoff, Moustache, Bh( no longer present in Us), Giant, Specialized, Trek, Ohm, Orbea, Raleigh ,Haibike, Bmc, Canyon, Cube,Yamaha , Kona, Luna, Bulls, Gocycle, Tern , Wattwagon , DiamondBack, Dost , Pedego, Felt and a few others that i missed b/c their sales are low in Us.

3). 900$-2.5k , 3.5k max., usually tops is @2.5k

Aventon, Rad, Biktrix , Espin, Flx, Izip, Juiced, Lectric, M2S, Magnum, Sondors, Surface, Genze , Ride1Up, Voltbike, Espin, EFrey , Flx , Izip, Ecotric, Eflow, Evelo, ProdecoTech

Under 900$, Very unreliable ebikes , they are disqualified.

There is also the DIY ebike category , but this one is treated as a separated entity since there are 2k projects out there or 10k home made ebikes. Also since the brands are mostly unknown , exception being the motors which mostly are from Bafang, it is hard to track what is popular and what is not.
DIY group certainly is growing fast and has many members !



Some upcoming brands that could become popular: Coleen(Cat. 1), Harley-Davidson Serial 1(cat. 2) Zen (Cat. 3).

It is worth noting that the 5 most popular brands , analyzed based on the nr. of
EBR thread messages are:

1) Specialized (20.4k)

- a lot of specialized riders there ! Fyi : Trek is @5.messages.

2) Rad Power (13.8k) - that's rad...

3) Juiced (13.3k)- many got juiced here(poor cs) but neverthless volume speaks...

4)Stromer (10.2k)- Great , almost flawless design, although their CS and occasional ebike issue are not on par.

It is worth noting that this brand +Greyp+ Coleen are the only ones that supply Gps 3g/4g anti theft on their ebikes


5) Lectric (8.6k) - Big surprise here, this
brand is on a run.


This chart also , very closely , reflects the top sellers in Us. Who wants to bet ?


Congrats to all the brands and to Specialized, their great range of ebikes(road/mtb./commuter) , smart marketing, dealers, warranty, great tech. , keeps them on top

W/o a doubt that's a lot of ebike brands (50+) and a lot of them have diff. electric/motor components , so unlike cars of american or asian origin , this parts are not interchangeable.

* Please read the manual and pay Xtreme caution riding this 40+mph ebikes !! U should have at least 3+years of ebike/moto riding b4 getting 1 of those.

Please, can you sourse me an orbea rise ltd or Specialized levo sl s works as a " category 2 " buyer? Simply so I can fit your belief that I should have more than 1 ebike.

Most ebike owners have 1 or 2 ebikes from one of the 3 categories (and for everyone price is the most imp. Factor) .
So it is a gen. classificatiom based on price , which is pretty obvious and a common sense logic. I don't know anybody who chooses a product without looking at the price first.

I think it's a pretty clear post but you could start a thread post going into all sorts of data variables and factors.

Telling people they must be bored during COVID is so redundant it's ridiculous, of coarse people are bored, duh.
Ontario Canada is in full lock down right now, the police can fine you $750 right now if they don't like your reason for being out and about.
I went back and liked his OP just for moral support after all these negative comments, for no real reasons, it's not like he is a newbie at EBR either.

I am in category 3 with my Sondors at the starter level, I didn't know too much about Ebikes when I purchased that one, I plan to move up on my next one.

I went back and looked at who is doing the slagging. My ignore list just expanded.

I guess my objection had as much to do with the how you titled your original post. It seemed to foretell an analysis of and classification of ebike owners. The post itself said nothing about the owners and was just a sorting of ebikes by price. I was disappointed that it did not address the topic stated in the title, and that the actual content of the post said nothing illuminating about the bike's intended use, target market, who rides them or why they do so. I am not saying that price is not an important factor. However, there is so much more to people's choices than just price point.

I guess I'm just not into 'drugs' - I would be willing to bet you the price of your 4th eBike that my XP will remain the first and last eBike you'll ever see me buy. It does everything I hoped it would do when I bought it. Folds up compactly and fits inside my motorhome, makes the grocery runs, is capable enough off-road, has more battery power than I'll ever use in a single day, and it didn't break the bank when I bought it. I have a built in aversion for spending any money on overpriced things, which is why I've never owned an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac, among other 'popular' toys

I expect I'm with you but for my Rad Rover rather than an XP. The bike does everything I need for a bike to do. A Mac?? I've been using my little MacBook Air for 9 years and it still works as good as it did when new including the battery. As for a phone I still have the little free flip phone Consumer Cellular gave me years ago and it works fine too.

If u read carefully, they are generalized , each cat. says it clearly where the avg. is and what the max. is.

Of curse we have Treks/Levos/Orbeas and others that r 10k+ but that price point is not the avg. seller for those brands.

Now, most R&M/ Stromers start @6.5-7k (very few models under that price , then the ultra custom brands are even more $).

Ps- I think any of the new models of Bulls Sonic Evo with the 750wh /crabon frame will be a perfect 2nd ebike for u. Imo is the winner in terms of performance/price for a emtb. I'm getting into mtb. and considering it.

Generally speaking 3/4 of ebike models that Trek/Specialized/Orbea/Bulls/Cube and few other brands make are under 7k.

That puts them there in cat. 2 with the exception that those models over 7k are considered cat. 1 .

Also many emtb. brands are not included , maybe a separate thread post is needed but don't have the time for it.

Getting there, although you need a little more mental exercise - now you can research median bike price in each FUNCTIONAL category for each brand, compare component costs and present us with the brand buy factor. Then for some real exercise, factor in warranty support and present us with a true value index.

As a menral exercise personal trainer, my fee for 1.25 hours of training is in the mail.

But please, stop editing your original post. It takes away the relevance of everyone elses post, and is insulting to those who take the time to participate in discussions. If you must change the message, add a comment " see post #58 for updates"

Elite exercise program - calculate sales figures on each model to calculate the real cost of what is MADE vs offered?
