The Future of eBikes: How Fast is Too Fast?

I smile and wave at nearly everyone I encounter on my rides, including ebikers, cyclists, motorcyclists, dog walkers, stroller rollers, cops, pedestrians, zombies and stray animals. Smiles and waves are cheap. I do ignore most children however.
there must not be many other riders where you are, if i waved at everyone i’d never have two hands on the bars! i only acknowledge other riders when we’re in pretty remote areas.

Full disclosure: We're in Vancouver right now; it was in the 80s yesterday and the hotties on bikes wouldn't have hurt my feelings by wearing even less.
In Vancouver? we have been stuck on 50. drizzle for days now I hope this weather straightens out so i can catch up on my obligations seems they found Planet X maybe the earthquakes and so on are a harbinger of things to come.

It was a one hit wonder. Back to your regular scheduled program today...
finally warmed up a bit still raining though, we seem to swing from drought to dreary( OTH as of late we have about the best weather on the planet around November, light frost in the mornings around 70 in the afternoon, low humidity and no bugs!)The dry conditions in late summer and fall are killing our deciduous trees

Def could be worse...
If I was younger I would work on obtaining a citizenship for BC,I would concentrate on being a "first responder" scientist or forestry management( cant let the yanks get all the good lumber and screw up the old growth forest-besides I want to meet "bigfoot',our local"wood booger" is very elusive)

I saw my first National Park Ranger on the rail trail this week. He was riding a recumbent with a "RANGER" sign on the back of the seat. Rangers here are law enforcement officers, so they can detain offenders, impound vehicles, call town or state cops, etc. I slowed down when I passed him 😅

A few of the kids I see on the trail would do a wheelstand on their Surron as they passed. Not much chance of catching him with a recumbent.

Suronster is probably the most infuential 'safe' influencer for road riding high power emotorcycles.
He has covered the Bonnell CYC powered mountain bike and his surprise is genuine, you can see deep down he wants to be accepted by society, but of course its still ludicrously overpowered and very dangerous on shared trails.
But now hes involved you are going to see a surge of these on the trails with riders trying to justify them because of
the way they look, of course no one is going to be fooled, these are 6KW bikes.
But I will admit, I would love one if we had dedicated trails for them, which isnt going to happen.
You can see him on the trails interacting with legal bikers frrom around 5min onwards
It is restricted to 30mph in 'street' use, but has a race mode as well.
This motor and battery are 2 grand to buy as a kit, you can fit it to any mtb that can squeeze the battery in the frame

I remember going on a motorcycle trip with my dad to the Appalachians when I was 15 years old.
(We stopped for a ride on the clogged tooth driven train ride up the mountain.)

We were coming down a mountain highway and there was a guy on a ten-speed just Screaming Down the mountain.

My dad carefully pulled out to pass him and matched his speed to clock him while we passed.
He was going 55 mph.

He was Completely Focused, and didn't take his eyes off the road.

It was Fricken Impressive!!

I was an fearless (reckless?) 15 year old, but I knew I couldn't do that.

The slightest miscalculation and he would have been killed.
had a friend who clocked one at 55 mph.
