How do I order a replacement chain

My new Selle SMP saddle is here! I’m joining NutBusters Anonymous. :D New chain, chain breaker, and missing link wrench are due in tomorrow. If all goes well, I’ll be back on the trails this weekend!!!! Full report when work completed.

Good choice on the saddle. I have one of these on one of my e-bikes and the Selle SMP e-sport on the other.

Chazmo, you haven't learned the lesson yet :)
Rab is riding a totally different e-bike than yours.

Jugs, the one I got is the TRK saddle in medium size. I’m optimistic about this but will be fair about it as I evaluate it. I’ve watched @RabH do all-day rides with this saddle, and I’m hoping it works as well for me!
Mine is medium too. Has been on my bike for just over 2 years now and no plans to change it. Can’t say I’ve done all day rides though, nor do I wear padded cycling shorts - just sports shorts with compression liner.

OK. Work is underway. This may take a couple of days! More as I progress.

1) Perhaps the grotyest chain I’ve ever seen came off the parts bike. The Park Tool missing link pliers made quick work of getting it off. I know… eeeeeew, right? @stompandgo I still don’t think the tool is dirty enough to pass muster, but it’s a little grimey now. :) OK, admittedly, this chain disaster has been sitting in my garage untouched for a few months. But the original owner of the parts bike rode in sand and other schmutz and made quite a mess out of the parts bike’s drivetrain, especially this chain. And before anyone comments, yes this is being thrown away!!! :)

2) What remains of the parts bike now… Stuff I need has now been removed from the crank. The chainring and guards came off easily with 5 Allen nuts and five spacers that hold the chainring away from the inner guard.

3 & 4) And now 30 minutes of elbow grease (and quite a bit of Dawn detergent) at work scrubbing out the disgustingly dirty chainring and guards. These will be treated with some gun oil after they’re dry and ready to get transplanted onto Fättie. Next step will be a deep clean of Fättie’s drivetrain.

Whew, next big step completed. Prepping Fättie. Pretty deep clean (especially to the drivetrain). Now air drying after the wash. If you’re wondering, I use Press ’n Seal to close off areas that I don’t want water to get to. Obviously, also the chain and chainring assembly have been removed in prep to receive the replacement stuff. I think this is as far as I'll get today.

Whew. All done. That was quite a bit of work. Cleaning and replacing the chainring took me a couple of hours yesterday. Today, new chain installed as well as new Selle SMP saddle. I was somewhat astounded by how much the chain had stretched. Quite significant! Taking Fättie out for a ride shortly!

Hey, does anyone know what the sticky coating that KMC had on the e9 chain is/was? I actually rubbed down the chain to get some of it off before applying generous amounts of chain lube during the install. I’m presuming it was some kind of rust preventative, but I was a little taken aback by its icky/sticky feeling.

The new chain seems great, by the way. And, again, I was very surprised by how much the original had stretched… Almost an inch, I’d say, but I didn’t measure it. Glad I did it.

I think it'll be a thin coating of some sort of wax that many chains ship with. This helps prevent rust etc. in shipping/storage.

It used to be this stuff called Cosmolene, which is a petroleum distillate, but I think they banned it. I agree, it's a sticky wax type substance. I just lube on top of it to start, and after a couple more lubes, it's gone.
