Before you yank the shift cable when replacing the twist shift with a cool MicroShift trigger shifter, remove the battery and the plate under the battery. Protect, shield, the prongs that go into the battery. There is a capacitor that has a big charge if these touch the frame or your hands or A$$ that could kill you or wreck the bike. Look at the gear sensor under the plate. The mission is to thread the new cable through the gear sensor and into and out of the lower housing. This is easier said than done. This can be done but it takes a huge amount of persistence and skill. For most, you will be stuck with the original twist shift. The LX is not as tight as the Cruiser, yet still a pain. Local bike shops cannot do it. They will not touch it. If you pull the cable from the derailleur you are committed and could be effed. The new cable needs to be a tandem cable, hard to find, because of the length.
