Chainring on RipCurrent S

I went over a log and bent the chainring last week. I checked the crank runout and it was good no issues. I ordered a new crank set from Juiced today and will install it unless I can get a lower number tooth chainring installed. I have been struggling on the up hill side of some climbs. 20ft climbs in first gear and Assist set to L2 just barely gets it done. I ordered a replacement chainring and hope it works to get me the climbing power needed.

I'll have to shorten the chain too.

Check the BCD. Looks like 130mm/Five bolt. Get a KMC X8 chain because you bashed the old one. It also looks like a 42-t chainring. You can get a 36-t chainring from EBay. Sheldon Brown has a gear calculator.

I ordered a PASS QUEST 130BCD Narrow Wide Chainring/Chain Ring (Round, 48T)

I ordered a KMC e9 EPT 1/2" x 11/128" (narrow) chain.

I installed the 48 tooth chainring today and while assembling I figured out I need to change the spacer. The stock spacer is 5mm and the thicker chainring needs a thinner spacer. I ordered 3.5mm spacers which will fix the issue. I have not changed the chain or removed any links. I checked the chain and it is not stretched.

Spacers arrived. Installed and working great. Due to the smaller chainring the derailleur is now 3/4" farther back. Next will be to shorten the chain by 1 link to bring it back to stock tension.

Update on the 48 tooth chainring. It does require me to pedal faster than before. I tested the same drop and was able to make it out the other side with just enough speed. I am now starting to use gears that I would have skipped before. The bike still does 30mph with pedaling.

If you want more torque for climbing go with a lower tooth chainring 32, 38, if you want more top speed 52. As you gain in one, you give in the other

Small change from 52 tooth to 48 tooth but has made a big difference when trail riding. I can keep my cadence up easier. Running 10-15 mph on trails is a better experience now. Less effort pedaling. Only 1 chain link removed after the change needed.

Glad it worked out, trying to decide between ripcurrent now or wait till August for my fat-hd. Had a hub drive never experienced mid drive. I do like the juiced has torque sensor have you tried a hub without torque sensor. Is there a big difference to you?

750 watt Hub drive has the power. I own 2 RCS for the last 2 years. Smooth power assistance and quiet motor. I have done green, blue and some black trails on mine. 65lb ebike is heavy on techy trails!

I have a RipCurrent and my wife has an Aventon Level which doesn't have a torque sensor. HUGE difference, IMO. I would never buy a bike with just a cadence sensor.

I used a 42-T ring on this electric bike that I finished yesterday for climbing the hills of San Francisco, which it is doing today. It has a torque sensor, low nominal expenditure and high peaks. 11-42 in the rear.

I just got the Aventure Step Through fat tire for my wife. She loves the step through and the size. The cadence only sensor will take some getting use to. Switching from the Juiced RCS torque and cadence sensor then hoping on the Aventure makes you miss the torque sensor for sure. The cadence feels like you are getting pushed even when pedaling slow. I will have to test it on a local trail to see if it can go slow enough for the techy stuff. We maybe looking at the Juiced RCS Step Through in the future.
