Haibike SDuro (Yamaha), operate without display?

Anyone know of a way to operate the Yamaha SDuro without the display installed? I like a clean minimalist bar, no remote lockout, no front shifter, etc and definitely no over sized bike computer with corners that sits up high. It's just a matter of time before it gets knocked off and broken. When it does break the whole system won't work, a big weak link. Wishful thinking, but I'm hoping there's a way to jumper and/or bypass it.

Well, I finally fell and knocked the display out of it's slot. More of a tip over really, up a steep, rocky section. A sturdy bush branch knocked it off, but it fit right back on. I finally read in the manual that the display must be installed for it all to work. I did hear Court say the Bosch motor works without the display installed. I think it's just a matter of time before I break it.

I agree the display is rather out there and exposed! I don't ride mine hard so don't have much concern, I can't imagine they'd charge an arm and a leg for a replacement...but it is haibike! Really like the minimalist display on my bulls bike a lot more.

The 2017 Yamaha PW-X displays look much more rugged. I wonder if they'll work with older systems?

I've heard that Bosch Purions can be installed on ebikes with previous Bosch systems, and both Bosch's and Yamaha's new 500Ah batteries are backwards-compatible... It'd be awesome if I could install a new Yamaha display on my Sduro

i just broke the display in a small tumble. 1. how to run bike without display. 2. how to repair the case without having to buy a new unit. 3. how to prevent it from happening again ( don't say, don't crash).

Probably thats the best place for it.. I had it mounted forward so i could mount a small GPS directly over the Steering tube.

managed to break the mount this time.. o my.. if only it were possible to purchase the PW - SE motor / display / control unit.. i guess a trade in is next task.

Looking for the SE parts.. my idea on how to stop the unit flying off on endos.. rotated the display 90 degrees.. I only need to see the battery level. i ride every where in Std mode or High up steep hils

This is where it would be handy to have a 3D printer to fabricate a custom mounting bracket for the display. Maybe once Yamaha starts shipping their own bikes, parts such as the PW-SE/X display will be available to order. One can hope.

used Some JB plastic weld for both the display and the mount.. the glue seems harder than the plastic is stuck to, hopefully the adhesion is good. Lets see on the next spill.

My girlfriend had a minor spill at the bike park and broke the display mount for the second time in two months! I'm capable of resoldering the cable IF someone can send me a picture of the inside of their mount so I can make sure I am getting the order right.
The Diagram posted here earlier looks like Black - Orange - Brown - Red, but I'm not sure of the orientation. Thanks!
