I have an R&M Delite GX Rohloff (2017/2018) with Bosch CX performance line motor. It has the chain roller fitted but no chain tensioner. The chain (NOT BELT) tension is adjusted by turning one allen bolt on each side of the swing arm. This pulls back or pushes forward one slider on each side. What is the best way to check/adjust the chain tension (I.E amount of movement or distance of the chain from a fixed point)? The bike is still on its original chain and sprockets and has done around 2500 miles and I have adjusted it once before, but it's been a while and I've forgotten the distance/amount needed. Hope someone can help? Thanks.

Place your thumb in the middle of the chain. With about six pounds of force it should deflect by about a half-inch.

I would say that if you aren't having trouble with the chain dropping or making noise, it's not broken and you don't need to fix it.

If it moves less than 1/4 inch it is overly tight. If it moves more that 3/4 of an inch it is too loose. One solution with centering the axle in the dropouts is to use an extra wide and strong half-link chain. If you have tightened it twice and it begins to loosen with the miles just a little more. It is time for a new chain, before you have to also swap the worn cog.
