juiced Ripcurrent S with extended stock battery 52 volt 12ah and Bolton 52 volt 30ah triangle battery. I got the adapter and it has cut-90 connectors Whilst the stock juices has Xt-60. I’m curious as to how to wire this thing up. I can assume the wiring goes from controller(XT90-S) to battery one(Stock battery) to battery two(extended battery). I don’t want to blow myself up so I’m taking it slowly. Ha.
 
You can make or buy the XT90-XT60 adapters. I would expect you have two XT90 male plugs going to the batteries on the above? And one XT90 female going to the controller?

Then..
two XT90 female to XT60 male
one XT90 male to XT60 female

Covered with this. Given the grief you get when you solder these suckers, it's probably worth buying them.

The Bolton 30 ah battery is nearly triple the capacity of the stock battery. To keep things safe and simple, I would try just using that and leave the stock battery at home. Should 30 ah prove not to be enough for your marathon rides, *then* I would look into the possibly of tying two batteries together for even greater range, but paralleling two different batteries should always be done with great caution. As a general rule, doing that isn't a great idea

I didn't see too much written about the Bolton adapter, but I expect it contains circuity to protect the batteries if hooked together at uneven voltages. It could be as basic as a pair of diodes, but I hope it's an active circuit.

He could sell a Y-connector, but it's not worth the liability if a battery catches fire. By the way, I use y-connectors. Running parallel is OK if you're awake when hooking batteries together. I'm hooking smaller 36V packs of similar AH capacity together, always with both at full charge. I've found that that being off a volt, like 41.7 and 40.7 isn't going to flow a lot of current.

I have a custom made electric tandem. With 1 - 20ah dorado battery and a second 30ah triangle. above is how I did it.

I bought this switch, a bit pricey but the guy custom made the lengths to my specs.

My solution. A switch and inexpensive LED. ON Battery 1 - OFF - ON Battery 2

To me, the biggest risk is finding a way to mount the aux battery so it doesn't fall off. But if I were in the ebike business, if I sold a gadget like that, it would be idiot proof. They make automotive jumper cables, for example that can be connected backwards w/o harm.

There was a world famous 'incident' on one of the home shopping networks 15 or so years ago where they were selling 'Idiot Proof' jumper cables. They had two 12 volt car batteries and a set of the jumper cables with an Anderson type connector in the middle with red LED's indicating when the terminals were reversed. The guy demonstrated how you connect each half to one battery and the other half to the other battery - If you got a red light, you had it reversed. When both were connected to the two batteries with no lights, THEN you put the connector halves together and you would start the dead car

He did this 2 or 3 times with the gal looking on and then he left and she was left to sell the jumper cables. Unfortunately, she forgot step one, which was to separate the connectors before you clipped the cables onto the batteries. She hooked them up and within just a few seconds, the cables started smoking and a few seconds later, the studio was filled with maximum smoke . . . . and the jumper cables were destroyed!

I'll do a search and see if I can find a link to it - It's too humorous to believe!!

I’ve got a thick plastic breakout box my bro found at a surplus store. It’s perfect and seals up nicely. mounts perfectly and the door seals make it. Ill post pics when it’s done.

Yeah I’m thinking that riding to Los Angeles isn’t in my book. Backroads and such would make it a comical feat. Possible but how much work would I miss? haha.

I ride Los Angeles every day. Rio Hondo, San Gabriel, and L.A. River bike paths. 300-400 miles a week. I do have to spend some time on streets, but apple maps is good at routing you on bike paths only.

I ride from Long Beach to Cal State L.A. 4 days a week up the Rio Hondo Riverbed, and I do the Seal Beach to Santa Fe Damn on the weekends up the San Gabriel riverbed

Dang! you’re an animal! LA on a bike sounds like a dream! San Diego is great too. Knowing which cars are on their Cel phones helps me big time. Not even funny.

They really frustrate me, free “delivery time 30-50 days”. or $15 for 5-7 days. They have a USA presence and first class package rate could apply. Can’t quite recover from them telling a customer they needed a 48v battery when they got error code 7. A fooking firmware fix. I could go on...

Two Eunorau converters. The cheap seat has an 18A limit. But will work fine on my 36V BBS01B motors.
Bolton is out of stock.
