Heya
Looking to get my first ebike and a coworker can help me get it with a 40% discount. I'm wondering if at that rate it's worth getting the standard Wabash compared to something else. I'm not looking for a full mountain bike but I think I'd enjoy doing a dirt trail occasionally, and also I figured that type of bike would do better to support my fat 300lbs ass.
Is that a solid choice or should I look into another yamaha with discount or steer clear of them completely and get something else?
Thanks!

That's a great discount, curious is that on the Class 1 Yamaha Wabash or the new Class 3 Yamaha Wabash RT model? Regardless if you think you'll enjoy riding on gravel/dirt trails they're good ebikes. The RT has the new 500w Yamaha PW ST motor

My experience is only with a six-year-old Yamaha PW motor (in my Haibike AllMtn). It's a strong motor, stronger than comparable Bosch motors and still competitive with new 85Nm Bosch motors such as the Bosch Cargo Line (in my Yuba Spicy Curry AT). At 15,000 miles I had all the bearings and gears replaced in the Yamaha PW motor, even though nothing was wrong with them. I lke to do preventive maintenance.

Go for it!

It's only on any of the original models. The Wabash RT, the civante, and the CrossCore RC aren't available probably since they're all newer models, but I can get any of the others discounted.

Makes sense. At 42lb the Wabash is lighter than eMTB's but can still handle dirt trails
