I stupidly forgot to replace the cap and left it sitting in the magnetic spot after I finished charging. I then proceeded to ride 18 miles, much of it on rough dirt and gravel. Miraculously, the cap didn't fall off and was still in place on the magnet! Great design and execution by Specialized!
The magnet for the battery port is pretty strong!

Yeah I did that too, but I have also lost magnet cap when is was not proper in place. I dropped it and would out when I came home and was going to charge the bike. So I went to local Specialize store and ordered two caps. And I also made a hack on the cap. I made a hole and threaded a thread from a keyring and hooked on the light cable on the frame.

I have left it sitting next to the hole several times without loosing it. But I have adapted Sensewai's solution now.
