specialized creo 2

Keep in mind the displayed speed and max assist speed will be reduced if the overall wheel diameter is reduced. It might be possible for an authorized dealer to adjust the TCU, but ebikes took that away from users because it's an easy way to cheat speed limits.

Yep, I remember that. For speed, I use bike computer sensor anyway. Also if I go with 650B x 2.10 tires, it should stay pretty close in terms of circumference.

If the frame fits 700 x 2.2, what do you feel are the benefits of switching to 650B x 2.1? I wonder how much wider one could go with 650B. 2.4?

I don't necessary feel benefits for 650B x 2.1 vs let's say 700 x 2.2, I have comp model with alloy wheels and I would like to upgrade them to lighter carbon and as of now ~2.5k high end wheel sets in size 650B are discounted to ~1k, so this is the only benefit :) If 700c would have same discount, I would go with that probably to avoid this questions.

strangely spec's site initially shows a big discount on the terra clx evo but then not once you click through, in either size!

Yes, it is possible. I had my dealer adjust wheel circumference setting when I put 700x42 tires on my Creo1 E5

Both the Creo and the Creo 2 serve a specific part of the market. I loved the original Creo for the fact I could use it as a road bike (on some of the terrible UK backroads!!) and it offered level of comfort with the futureshock and I swapped to Ergon CF3 seatpost, that no other bike could match. Yes some would argue add a Redshift to some bikes, but out the box with a few adjustment, it was an awesome comfy bike. Yes the Creo 2 does seem to be me gravel orientated, but if I do get one, this will not stop me using it on the road. Like Wild Paul, the first thing to got is the dropper as this adds no comfort and not something I would ever use.
Hi,

I want to take away the drop seat also.

Do I just cut the wire from the seatpost and take it off or do I need to bring it to the LBS ?

Furthermore, I like the Kinekt Active Carbon, should the lenght be 330 mm or 380 mm. Do you think this would be a good option ?

You should just be able to unhook the wire from the bottom of the seatpost and leave it in the tube. Nothing to cut unless you really want to get rid of the cable and housing.

The TranzX dropper is 400mm overall length, so a 380mm seatpost will definitely fit. If you're buying carbon though, I assume you want to save weight. So if you don't need the extra 50mm, don't get it. Kinekt shoud say what the minimum insertion is, probably 80-100mm. So if you don't need more than 230mm of seat post sticking out, no need for the 380mm tube.

Hi All. This week I received a message on my Garmin 1030 stating 'ebike sensor battery low.' Internet searches revealed some users saying to just ignore it and that it's a bug. I didn't want to rely on that since I don't want any batteries critically low on an ebike. I called my LBS where I purchased in October 2023 and was told the TCU has it's own battery that requires charging. So what is new for the CREO 2, there is now a USB-C port on the TCU that you can charge. This requires removing the screw, lifting out the TCU and inserting cable. According to LBS, there is no indicator that the battery is low. There is no indicator that the TCU is charging. LBS says they to just plug it in once a year and should be okay. So if it wasn't for my Garmin stating 'ebike sensor battery low' I'd have no clue. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me and was never told I needed to keep the TCU battery charged annually. What is the worst case? Battery on TCU dies and then the bike dies? Anyone have any experience with this on a CREO 2?

Thanks for bringing this up. My recently purchased Vado SL 5.0 may have the same Mastermind TCU.

You would need to pedal without any assistance until you charged the Mastermind TCU battery.

Jeremy: this issue was quite recently brought up by another Mastermind TCU user, who also found the solution in the Specialized knowledge database.

Thanks. That makes sense. I rode it after charging the TCU and the 'ebike sensor battery critical low' was resolved on my Garmin. All is well. My shifter batteries recently needed changing. So now, at the start of every new year, I'm going charge the TCU and replace the shifter batteries.

Alternatively just ride it all year and keep the TCU charged by using it. Unless there is a Rider Care Technical Bulletin that recommends annual recharge, there is nothing mentioned on the support site. There is a TB for initial charging after shipping or if a service part was installed that I found on FB or EMTB forums.

I do ride all year. I spend my winters in Arizona and had just ridden 4 days out of 7. I don't think it's charged just by riding but I don't read the technical files as I prefer to call the LBS and work off their recommendations.

Supporting your LBS with at least an annual visit is good. There may be some corner conditions that require recharging even with riding. Considering you can also use the Mastermind USB-C port to charge other devices.

The TB is at the end of this thread:
