Q: Is the western drought affecting BC in any way? Based on your posts, not too worried about Alberta. Yet.
It has in the recent past/years. Nothing even remotely like Cali, but it's starting to become a yearly summer issue with restrictions for lawn watering etc. Was never a problem when I was a kid (that's cuz dinosaurs didn't use a lot of water Dave), but has become increasingly bad in the last decade along with devastating forest fires.

Unfortunately, glacial melt created by pollution/global warming is occurring at a faster rate in Banff NP which has resulted in lower river levels. Water from glacial runoff is crucial to those particularly in the southern agricultural sector who depend on a steady supply of mountain water.

As you touched on this matter in your previous post, with the pressing demand for fresh water sources in the western states already at a historical high, we Canucks will see the cost of imported produce at local grocers rise significantly. In fact, it’s probably happening already. To help the cause, I encourage all who can grow their own vegetables whether it be in their own backyard, deck or in local community garden plots. We’ve been doing this for the past six years and share the bounty with family, relatives, neighbors and friends as well as the local food bank. We’re all in this together.

Hour ride around Palm Springs today. Great weather and the desert flowers are in full bloom. Here is my son and his Gravelster up at the ranger station at one of the trail heads. Mt San Jacinto is behind him. The snowmelt is filling the wash with whitewater like conditions. Boy do we need it...

I love cauliflower. Made it this weekend with olive oil, italian dressing and herbs de provance. When it came out of the oven used grated pecorano romano cheese on top. Bon appetit!

I am so intrigued by youse guys and gals that ride in horrible weather. The last thing I want to do when the weather is extreme is jump on a bike. You guys/gals here on this forum have balls!

Not me. When the weather is crappy (last 6 months here in Canada, on the west coast) I hop on my indoor smart trainer. Only down side is indoor trainers are very hard on rear tires.

I don't have any pictures, but just wanted to rub it in a bit. I rode over to my Amish friend's farm today to drop off some egg cartons. We talked about the weather a bit, all the farmers are getting a good early start on getting fields ready. When I left he was getting ready to go out and finish tilling for the day. Said he's planting sweet and popcorn next week. On the way home I came across another farmer out harvesting a crop already. Looked like a nice field of rye that was cutting. Had two mules hooked up, he looked over and saw me and gave a big wave. My strawberries are coming in nicely this year, and the rest of our plants we have are almost ready to put into the garden. Green beans, cucumbers and basil will be showing soon.

they have been battling to keep cars off the bike paths. homeless drive on them and park and strip cars. though I think regular people do to and dump crap. this was the latest. right off the curb. there was a concrete block the squeezed by. they just cleaned up a shithole of campers that were burned and crap res and blocked it all off tith blocks.

If anyone just happens to have time to kill, be sure to check out the complete compilation of Friday Fails. OWEE! 🤕

The guy at 3:15 comes close to breaking his neck ....yikes.... and the 4 bike pileup is just plain dumb.
There were times when I didn’t know whether to laugh, groan or wince. One glaring omission that I did notice in many of the videos was the fact that many of those fails occurred with riders not wearing enough protective gear on none at all.

I am still in RV Technician School in Texas at the NRVTA. Not much riding for me other than to school here lately. Some of you may recognize Todd the big beard as he has become quite a celebrity.

That HP 41C calculator was sure an unexpected sight! The old HP calculators of similar design are nearly indestructible. I had a student forget their loaner HP 48G on the roof of their car. It fell off in the school parking lot and got run over. Even with the dent/bulge from a rock being under it didn't reduce its usability.
