This trail begins at the top of North Road which was the first road built in the Colony of British Columbia. It linked the settlement at New Westminster to Burrard inlet where sailing vessels could complete the journey to Vancouver. Today it marks the boundaries between Burnaby and Coquitlam

It is hard to imagine that this now dead end road was once a main artery. The Royal engineers who built it did not seem to care how steep it was. They just made a straight line from point A to B.

It would be nice to have more naval power in the Arctic.

The RCN is currently building the Harry DeWolf class arctic patrol vessels for just that.
