SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

They do not seem to have a fear of people it seems ?
I took this is the reserve a couple of weeks ago. After I took it I rode by them within about 5 feet. They casually walked in the direction away from me, and they were wary, but not afraid. Even with the little one.

I can't imagine walking up and shooting one.

I have heard that large Herons will go for eyes if threatened so I wouldn't doubt that it has happened. Caution should be used with any wild animal. There are reasons we don't let children and small dogs walk near the edge of any murky, fresh water in Florida. Except for the occasional Darwin Award winner that is...

Well, I took that out because this is about unusual photos...

They are called "colts." And yes I had to look it up! I'm no bird expert I just like watching them 😁

Colts? California's central valley is a part of the western flyway. Tens of thousands of birds migrate yearly. Sandhill cranes are a particular favorite to watch. They have a melodic call when they fly over head. They'll occassionally fly near enough to our home to hear them, though tough to spot through the tree cover.

Ok back on track.
I stopped to take a drink and there was sawdust flying out of this hole at the base of the tree. I went up to investigate but never saw what was doing it. I figured those little Keebler dudes were in there making cookies so I didn't disturb them. I like my Keebler Cookies!

Ebiker of the day on his Nuvinci Evelo. I believe the model is Aurora. Notice the motor. Although he bought it 2 years ago he said it has only 300km because he has been recovering from illness. Long may he pedal.

Riding yesterday along the Rincon in California a dead Gray Whale had washed up on the beach. The beach is closed right now for people because of Covid 19, however, open for dead whales. I was aware of the dead whale in advance from local TV coverage.
