I had a robust breakfast and headed out into the surrounding countryside. 47 miles later I'm felling like I am about 80% back from the injury. It was a really satisfying ride. I left the assist at Sport pretty much the whole ride.and used 68% of both batteries on the ride.

The low heart rate is due in part to my taking a beta blocker. I noted that my top speed on this ride was coming down a long, smoothly paved hill with open vistas and no side roads at 44 mph. There were large sweeping turns as well. The bike was quiet and felt solid, well controlled and safe. This thing really is a vehicle. That's a very low average HR. Alaskan. How does the bike handle descending at 50mph?
Nice! I think I may end up with a day in the Rotorua area as I map out my 2020 New Zealand visit... !Ride of contrasts the other day. That's steam coming from a vent in the ground just besides Diana's wheel. The steam in front of the wheel comes from the vent in the left foreground of the photo. The yellow on the rocks is sulfur. The other photo is on the trail around the Blue Lake about 10 miles away.
So true, just be aware of crosswinds even on a heavy e bike! I managed 49.4mph on my e bike and it was super stable, the low centre of gravity really helps! I once had a very scary speed wobble on my carbon bike at 45mph and it really hit my confidence! The hill it happened on is very local to me and until I got my e bike I steered clear of it, now I have no fear of it at allIt depends where you are. If it’s a hill with nothing around, just let the bike roll.

@Alaskan I'm glad you are getting there, 80% in such a short time is a big step
I can just see the fear in your face at that sight Like a double whammy I find this bike completely stable, I regularly hit over 40mph and so far it hasn't scared me! I'm not sure how common speed wobbles are with carbon frames but I never want to experience it again! Can understand how that would put a dent in your confidence. Unusual though on a carbon frame to get a "Tank Slapper" was once racing in Sri Lanka and strong wind, blew me across road in a straight diagonal into the field. Just a few feet away from sunning King Cobra. I HATE SNAKES. So having that battery on the down tube, doesn't effect handling? Interesting.

I guess I was just unlucky then, the bike had alloy rims btw!Very rare Rab. Unlike steel, carbon doesn't have a resonance, that under certain conditions will make the frame "hum" However deep carbon rims can induce a speed wobble.
I hope it lasts until next weekend then, work gets in the way during the weekVery nice shots Rab. This week is I'm pleased to say, looking good. Warming up, with light winds. UK has a BIG high pressure system hovering over us all week. Get out there, like I intend.

I am ashamed to admit that I have watched the whole series. It is like watching a slow motion car accident that one just cannot look away from. Except near the end when they go to Australia ...that is the straw that broke this camel's back!Heartbeat is showing at the moment in the afternoon on Drama. Vernon, Scripps dodgy brother, has just convinced the village he's dead. Done a runner to France - Not that I watch it???
