Great looking trail. It may not be PC these days but tobacco was America's first high-value export crop. From cigar wrapper, shade grown leaf in Connecticut to Virginias and Burleys in the mid-Atlantic to Perique in Louisiana, it is all part of a long and rich history.

Durham once had the distinction of being the place were they first machine rolled cigarettes commercially. Ironically, now it's a med-tech center.

That is very true around these parts, most rainy days will get that 2 hour window and I just took advantage of one to get another 50k ride in. I always bring my poncho just in case.

now that Pot is legal here in Canada I guess we can expect to see factory made flip-top boxes of machine rolled ,menthol filtered wacky tobacky ,or at least the empty packages

Friday Afternoon Ride: Moreton Bay Cycleway (Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia) ...

My lunchtime guest is a magpie, perennial winner of Australia's favourite bird competitions and vicious attacker of cyclists.

Both photos were taken looking approximately ENE with Moreton Island beyond the calm waters of Moreton Bay. Shipping to/from the Port of Brisbane (to the south; right of photo) can be seen in the distance. Beyond Moreton Island is the Pacific all the way to the western shores of Canada, USA and Mexico. The Great Barrier Reef (entirely off the coast of Queensland) does not reach this far south.

handlebar bag is an Ortlieb

My wife has this Ortlieb on her eBike and wouldn't be without it. 100% waterproof which is somewhat of a rarity on up-front bags with most being marked as 'water resistant'.

I have a few days off work and this morning I woke to an overcast sky with a gentle breeze and it was very mild for the middle of November So it was perfect for a nice cycling trip and although some of the roads were extremely muddy I had such an amazing day sure beats work It will be some time before I come back down from cloud 9

Thanks for posting all those images as Thumbnail size...!! I find that is super helpful, whether I'm viewing the Forum on my PC, or especially on a mobile device -- attaching all those images at full-sized display could really suck up the data-plan on a cellphone, when I open this Thread!

We had snow/snow-showers all yesterday morning (but a good deal warmer today) -- so I decided to bike to work this morning as a result. (It was about 37f when I left home.) The new office commute is now just 5 miles one way... I picked up over-shoe booties earlier, and got to try them out today -- really made a difference keeping toes warm, and keeping splash off the lowest part of my pants legs. (I bike to work in my office pants, but with merino long-underwear.) The trails had some remaining slush this morning in just a few places, and one small wooden bridge was still icy -- but I think if I take the winter morning commutes slowly and cautiously, I can avoid spinning out on ice. (Though I probably won't commute on days immediately following heavier snowfalls, or ice storms, anyway...)

My wife has this Ortlieb on her eBike and wouldn't be without it. 100% waterproof which is somewhat of a rarity on up-front bags with most being marked as 'water resistant'.

I was a bit nervous about it, because $75 for a handlebar bag seemed very high, but it's actually waterproof and the magnet system makes it safely openable while riding. Zippered bags often require two hands and other closing mechanisms can be really porous. The bracket on the left side of my rack is for an Ortlieb pannier briefcase with which I'm also very happy. IT replaced a rack trunk which had been too floppy.

I have this handlebar bag which has an obnoxious yellow rain cover that is discreetly hidden away until you really need it.

This waxed canvas/lined with x-pac bag is likely extremely waterproof as well.

if you want quality you have to pay for it. Otherwise the friggin zippers will break or the materials will decompose while you are watching it

I’m on my 2nd Ortlieb handlebarbag. The first lasted almost 15 years. The last years it wasn’t waterproof because the corners of the lid got torn over the years but I had used it several times a week (almost daily) April to November during these years. I put some gaffer tape in some places on the inside of the lid
My ”new” is made of a different material and the form of the lid should prevent it from wear as the old one.
The lid overlaps well and fits very snugly but I guess it can’t 100% waterproof in a really heavy rainstorm. I have however never worried keeping my phone in the bag during trips in normal rain.
The Ortlieb bags , but no bike, is what I have right now. The bike I’ll get for spring will definitely be equipped with a KlickFix mount for my handlebar bag.

Had to watch out for rock slides due to all the recent wet weather.

Also appreciate that you scale your photos before uploading. Large heavy pics load slowly on my old iPad
High resolution photos are great if there are details you want to zoom in on but for viewing a nice pic on a computer screen or a tablet image sizes over 2000 pixels in width aren’t really necessary.
Uploading or viewing large files consumes electricity. We need that electricity to charge our batteries

Unfortunately, there haven't been many sunny riding days around these parts this season. Lately, I just take what I can get. At least it wasn't raining.

I learned from experience to down size photos before uploading. Downloading large files are a problem for me as well on all my devices. I'm sure they also cause a storage problem for the forum. As you say, most nature shots don't require hi res.

Biting cold easterly wind today but it was a beautiful sunny day so I set off with many layers on and once I got warmed up it was a very enjoyable 51 miles Once again I can't get this smile off my face, I just love this bike more everytime I throw my leg over it I set myself a target of 3000 miles this year and I'm already at 2868 and I have another 2 days off work so I should be pretty close to my target this week
