After reading posts from people who describe themselves as "fit, athletic" types who still bother to ride ebikes I thought I would check to see if I fit that demographic. Couple of days ago rode a mountain bike with street tires 39 miles, had to get off and push the bike up almost a mile over the steepest stuff with 10+% grades - got home sweaty and exhausted - nope, not fit/athletic. So yesterday I took my ebike for what turned out to be a 64 mile, "metric century" ride with over 3,000ft total elevation gain per google maps. I probably rode half or so without assist but would have had to walk and push a regular pedal bike a lot, or likely wouldn't have been able to complete the ride. Ended up with 23% left out of a 400W battery. So not fit or athletic, far from it, but able to enjoy a longish strenuous ride nonetheless.
I only took a couple of pictures, and not of the trash heaps, tents, broken down vehicles with people living in them along the Columbia.
So sad that what was a beautiful, clean and relatively safe city as Portland has become such a national disgrace. Outside of Portland still beautiful, at least for the time being.
