What a beautiful place to ride - even in the cold!Today’s ride was definitely my last ride for this year
I have never ridden a bicycle on New Year’s Eve so I thought I just had to today as the sun was shining and temperatures were above freezing.
Started at 13.30 and returned 15.15. Did 30km (19miles) so it was a relaxed ride. 4°C ( 39°F) when I started and 2°C (35-36°F) getting home. Toes and fingers a little cold at the end but really nice being out on the bike.

Looks can be deceiving, it certainly wasn't clean The mudguards do a great job! The Road E just eats up those big climbs with ease, I recently lowered all of my settings which means range is never really a problem! The last 30 miles were in to a stiff headwind though which did eat up the battery but I always manage to keep enough in reserve for the last climbs home!Wow, what a great looking place to ride! Pics # 6 and 7 are why I went with a ToughRoad instead of a Road E, but any of these things are great bikes. And how in the world do you keep that bike so clean?
Looks like quite an attention getter at mile 21 or so there. How did your range end up for this ride?
Alright, so off we go again! Temps on the right side of freezing today on Jan 1, so a short one down along the Erie Canal and the Hudson River on the bike paths. A drab day at first, but nice to get out of the gate right away for the new year. No snow forecast in the next week so maybe I can get a few rides in. Some rain expected, though.
Things a little quiet at Erie Canal Lock 6 today. This is a mile from my house. I ride the flight of six locks down to the Hudson several times a week when heading out on rides in that direction.
@Readytoride, I enjoy your pics. I grew up in Great Falls, lived in Leesburg before moving to FL in 2009, and once lived in Purcellville. I do miss the beautiful country...Success! On the far side of the creek, looking back. The dark part of the water (if you look straight across) is very deep, even for a car. It is generally trucks that will use this road, and horses (fairly recently, too, judging by the fresh imprint of shod hooves on the road). My route was to hug the embankment to the right where the creek bed was shallow until I reached a shoal (out of view of this shot) and work my way across. Having a carbon belt drive meant I wasn't worried about a chain or derailleur getting wet.

Pretty exciting ride to Safeway for sileage, fruit and tortillas! Safeway is one of the few stores here that actually has a bike rack. I noticed two plugins by the rack also which might be handy if one was touring through the area.
