Pulling the trigger

After exhaustive research I've finally decided to buy the Diamondback Trace EXC tomorrow. I can buy it from my local Performance Bike shop and get 20% back in store credit of almost $500 plus free Shipping at set up at the store. They are not the most knowledgeable ebike store but they will need to learn since ebikes are a sunami coming their way. The bike got a great review on this site and I can't beat the price, features, local service (closest ebike provider by 50 miles) and store credit to upgrade bike or buy additional items. Will update the community as things progress. Can't wait to get out and ride. By the way I am Type 2 B 50 250 R/E/WL, lol. You'll have to scan posts for defining expectations to decifer the code.

This is a solid bike and with the 20% back in store credit I have almost $500 to use for upgrades, or accessories, etc, due to the Performance Bike special this weekend. Can't wait to get it out for its first ride. Will update the community once it arrives. Not as stealthy as I wanted, but plenty of power and great features. I'd be riding now if I had it.

What can you do, Mike? You might have been able to buy a bargain or you might have bought a boondoggle. That's a solid bike. Accel is the king of ebikes, from their castle in Holland. Diamondback is just part of the giant family. Like the Maf... oh well, let's not go there. You'll get support. The battery is premium. The bike has good specs. A fat bike will lose a lot of range.

I'm converting my hybrid to electric (parts hit NYC from Shanghai last night) and it's got about the same fork, about the same tires, same basic gearshift. I bought some Schwalbe Marathons because the thorns were driving me crazy. Hopefully you can spend the store credit if you have any problems.

Thought you were more of a Type 1... Better to ride than wait. Great bike! All the best!

Welcome to the family, Mike. Remember, (said in Stevie Van Zandt accent) "We take care of our own."

Thanks George. I really respect your opinion and posts. It's not as if this will be the last ebike I have, but let's get the party started already. Will be good experience for my local Performance Bike store as well. My wife went with a Raleigh Cameo with Bionx 350W conversion and I think she will love it, just not be able to keep up with me, lol. Tried to talk her into the Dimondback Lindau ST at PB but she had her mind set and God help me if she didn't like the bike I suggested. She liked that it was purple, Baltimore Ravens colors, lol. Anyway Bionx is top notch product and her bike shop has lot of experience so she'll be fine. I'm probably more of a Type 1, but I like to think of myself as a type 2. After I lose some weight I'll definitely be type 2, lol.

Women always do such in-depth research! ;)

What am I supposed to do? If she bought the bike I suggested and she hated it or has any problems then it would be on me, but she chose it herself from a very reputable dealer now it is on her. Drive the extra 50 miles vs 3 miles from what I suggested for service and she is aware of that. I suggested the Diamondback Lindau from our local Performance Bike store where I bought my Trace EXC but she liked the purple Raleigh with Bionx conversion. In the end I think she/we will be very happy with her decision. She'll never keep up with me though, 500w vs 350W, forget about it, lol.
Anyway, it will be a cool one of kind conversion project and I will post pictures, etc. Anyone else here riding a purple Raleigh Cameo with a 350W Bionx system...I think not. Go Ravens, lol.
