Previous Year Discount

Hello all. Any feedback for bargain shopping is welcomed, but specifically I’m curious if there is trend of seasonal deals for e-bikes. Particularly, do previous year models typically go on sale? Even more specific, I’m pretty set on the Surface 604 Colt. Does this company have a specific time of year that they roll out their new lineup? Can I expect to see the 2018 model go on sale soon either from the company website directly or from dealers? Thanks!

I purchased a runout MY2018 Trek Powerfly 5 for AU$3800 instead AU$4500 - about 15% discount. This was on the last day of June with the MY2019 models announced on the first business day of July.

@ducksahz, clearance sales on prior year models is totally dependent upon when the new models will arrive and that's a big variable. Roughly mid summer to fall; however, when a new model isn't ready for distribution it could even push year end sales into the beginning of the next year.

If you're really interested in the Surface 604 brand, get to know your local bike shop. Be friendly, test ride ebikes and if you already have an ebike be a customer for service or accessories. You're more likely to find out when the 2019 models will be arriving that way which would be a good hint about year end or demo unit sales. With margins on new ebikes very low to begin with, I seriously doubt any shop will announce sale items early; this isn't a predictable industry like towels & bedding goods where retail shops all have a January "White Sale."

Many electric bike shops also offer affordable financing plans, so if you're worried about cost, consider that route for a new bike.

I was able to purchase my 2017 Gazelle Arroyo in March of 2018 at my LBS at a "close out price" that was $1000 below the 2018 Arroyo price and $1300 less that the original 2017 price. I actually preferred the 2017 model over the 2018 as Gazelle removed and changed some of the features, so it was a good deal for me in more ways than one.

Yes, Seattle ebikes has a good deal on 2017 Gazelle NL at the moment and at Electricity bikes in DC on the 2017 Gazelle Cityzen C8

Prime buying time is November through February. Usually some good Black Friday deals.

I was able to purchase a '17 Haibike for 30% less than list, it seems it had at least $250 + of options ( dropper seat, ect ) as it turns out 2018 model had no changes. purchased in April- I'm sure they still made a decent profit.
