Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Friends, tell me.
No plans for the coming Sunday. A biker club suggests an 80 km (50 mi) group ride, mostly by road. It would be around 1 C/34 F, very strong wind, and it might be snowing (freezing sleet). Anyone would take such a ride as a pleasure? (I'm inclined to stay at home...)

P.S. On joining the FB group, you had to answer these two questions:
  • Are you capable to ride at the average speed of at least 20 km/h? Y/N
  • Can you ride for more than 100 km a day? Y/N
Poor traditional cyclists... :)

Time for a coffee break …

Lowood Park, Queensland

Lowood, SE Queensland
Lowood is 24 km from home, meaning coffee in my little vacuum flask will have cooled to just the right temperature. Sorry, Lowood Coffee, Food & Gifts!

I think they like you. There's even an empty bike waiting...
Ha yes , the guy taking the pic :)
Thats actually my best friend and hes mothballed his efatbike to grind an acoustic one because he's hyper competitive and doesnt want to be called a cheat.
I'll have to get him to drag it out to remind us the fun we have battling each other on them.
You'd have to be Tour de France fit to manual up to here.

Had a fun 26 miler today, lots of good muddy trails. It was 50ish (F), windy, 27mph out of the North, of course that was where I was headed, doh! The warmer weather has made for some epic mud puddles and deep squishy tracks made by some motocrossers. They were snickering at me, but I was there on the same trail as them! Will post the vid links when available.

The field next to Lake Montebello was full of birds, hundreds of geese and gulls.

Great photos... do you ride with low seat height or just use a dropper post saddle?

When I'm out in the weeds or a decent trail I ride with it down, standing about 85 percent of the time. When I come to a stop or at a traffic light I will pop it down so I can stand and wait for the light or traffic. It is very convenient, I don't know what I did before the dropper post was invented!

Ride On!

Do us all a favor and find all the Geese eggs then give each a good shake. (-:

I've had a frustrating week as the weather has been good but my dad has been sick, thankfully he was better today and he even told me to go out for a ride! It was such a great 34 mile ride in chilly conditions but the light winds and dry roads were very welcome! Mostly quiet roads also which made it all the more fun, it will be a while before I stop smiling after that trip :D I enjoyed some of the roads I haven't been able to ride for a while, they are lovely and dry now so great fun! Next week isn't looking too promising but fingers crossed!

It's not quite so romantic when the location of the sewage plant is revealed…
Some treatment is better than none at all. I guess the recycled water has to be expelled somewhere along tributary. I cycle past a pork processing plant and our own sewage/wastewater treatment plant along my rides and the smell from the slaughterhouse on some days is quite unpleasant. Odors, if any, coming from the sewage plant are not even noticeable.

Went riding through the interior of the island for a change today. Was nice smelling the fresh air from the forest instead of the salty, windy air along the coast where I usually ride.

Stone walls look pretty cool too, but the trail or path looks rough.
