I've got the DJI Osmo Action. I've had it mounted on my handlebars. Hiking, I've done it handheld.

Great Vids. The Osmo is a superb camera too. I was sold on the Hero 9 after seeing the results of a friend’s ride videos. Do you have your DJ attached to an out-front mount? I've had good results using the GoPro attachment on my F3 Form Mount but much prefer the harness as it give me convenient access to the camera if I need to swap out batteries or change the position of the camera.

On my converted e-bike, it is on a secondary lower tube and is some GoPro mount. I was having a real problem with it rotating downward. It still happens. Your setup would eliminate that issue other than the controls being underneath! I have not adopted or adapted anything for the Specialized yet, so no videos. But the chest harness might be a good idea.

The only downside with the harness is shooting one's surroundings while riding. It requires that I sit up and pivot my upper torso which is somewhat awkward and doesn’t always achieve the desired results. A helmet mount would provide a great option as it would simply be a matter of turning your head in the direction of the shoot. Once again, access to the camera isn’t as convenient but I guess there are always going to be compromises depending on one’s own needs/preference. When it comes to riding technical singletrack, I only use the harness for obvious reasons. A crash would certainly spell disaster for any camera mounted on the bars. That being said, nothing is 100% guaranteed as I’ve certainly discovered.

You may have a valid point with respect to the helmet. I have a mount for my lid but have never used it. With a magnetic adapter attached to the harness and the other accessories, there’s no reason for me to change things up. With a simple ¼ turn, I can quickly remove the Hero 9 from the harness attachment if I ever need to swap in a fresh battery or if I opted to move it onto the extension stick or Gorilla pod. No fiddling around with those hand screws. It’s pretty slick. With that said, I'll have to get into the habit of using the out-front mount more often as it does provide yet another viewing perspective.

The harness I’ve been using is this one. It cost me less than the GoPro branded version but has served me well. I broke the first one during a tumble on the trail but they were gracious in providing me a replacement gratis.

I attach the camera upside down on the harness and have it in landscape mode. The camera has auto orientation and thus the screen will rotate depending on which way the camera is mounted. I presume that the Osmo also has this feature. Having the detachable clip of the harness attached in reverse increases your ability to tilt the camera upwards which is vital when you’re in a lower riding position.

C on C with a BLT is a great combo! This is peak season for fresh C onC in the great Midwest with vendors selling from parking lots in open air wagons straight from the fields each day!

For the last week South East Queensland, the more populous corner of our state, has been in lockdown with a ten kilometre from home limit placed on non-essential travel which, predictably, includes ebike rides. Although we live on the edge of suburbia – think of an old-style grid of streets and rectangular residential blocks – it is only two minutes by ebike to the rail trail or roller coaster country roads. This morning's photo is from the latter.

The farmhouse in the foreground is around a hundred years old and was built in the Queenslander style with verandas on three sides (one should always be in the shade). Often, as in this case, the requirements of a growing family resulted in one of the verandas being enclosed – instant spare rooms! The 20,000 litre polyethylene water tank is a twenty-first century addition, as is the house on the hill.

BTW, much of the rural midwest‘s town and country roads are still in that old grid pattern.

Queensland has a population of just over five million which would rank us midway amongst US states. The land area is slightly larger than Alaska, more like a Canadian province.

In 2020 there were six COVID fatalities in Queensland (early in the year); in 2021 there has been one death (an elderly person returning from the Philippines).
