Nirve DIY Part 1

This is my first DIY project. I found Electric bikes in 2017. I bought a Voltbike Yukon 750 that is a great bike, and a Surface 604 Colt that is also great in its class. Both bikes do what they advertised. I am very happy I’m up on 2 wheels again at 55.
Court reviewed the EG Monte Carlo which is a chopper style bike and I found that a little bit underwhelming for the price. Hoping for some wisdom and still being interested in that kind of bike I recommended a review of the Micargi chopper. I find Court’s reviews to be very informational and I trust him. I know he’s a busy guy and I really like him a lot, so I understand that he has not had time to get to that,
Regardless, in the absence of any type of expert advice on this subject, this year I decided to build one. I thought that when I ordered the bike, she was going to be everything that I wanted....
Pretty yes, but an unwieldy dog trying to pedal.. if I’m going to be completely honest.

Part 2

I contacted Gary Salo from Golden Motor Canada, where I first saw the bike and he was happy to help me motorize her! Gary is a great guy too

Needless to say.. the bike stock was 650 dollars US. The kit was around 1400 dollars US. That’s 2000 ish. I have spent an additional almost 1000 dollars, 10 and 20 at a time making her just right. I have learned a lot and I have had a lot of fun building. I have made some nice acquaintances along the way. I have learned there are a lot of good people here. The bottom line is ... I am now in possession of the finest bicycle/toy/ transportation that I could have ever dreamed of when I was a kid.
I frequently say that my second childhood is much better than my first was. I wish all the best to my fellow riders out there. Ride safe, my friends. If you can’t find your dream.... build it!

What bike is that and can I buy it.I see it says Electra blade, is that what it is and where can I buy it. I appreciate it if you could help, that's a sharp looking bike but I would do something else with the battery. Too much weight on the rear wheel. Love the flat foot design.

That is a Nirve Switchblade and yes they are for sale! I love the bike, she’s so comfortable to ride. Cruiser style upright position.

There are a few different places the battery can be mounted but I love the look of the HUGE open space in the frame and I didn’t want to change that. The bike is very heavy, all steel frame etc. but I love it. It is very customizable.

Hi @Joe EE, totally agree with you about that "second childhood" when it comes to ebikes; a lot of fun & happiness.

Please don't be too harsh on the chopper style bike. They're really designed for mostly straight line riding which they do quite well and with a pretty cushy feel. Handling is not their strong point as it seems you know.

Hi Ann, i am really happy with it now that it’s powered. Trying to get to a speed where she wasn’t wobbly all over before I motorized it was tough for me, is all. That big rake up front and the forward pedal position was a little past my capability unmotorized at this point. With the pedal assist she’s just a big smooth glider now.
