New "Rider Care" mandatory training

Just as a side note, the manager of my LBS informed me that Specialized has mandated that all employees perform a multi-hour training to become knowledgeable and have a full understanding of their products by 6/15/22.
He stated that due to my contribution of bitching and dissatisfaction regarding previous experiences as well as the sharing them here (I will assume, as I am sure they peruse these forums), it was an action that had them review some of their shortcomings and also to strengthen their positive aspects.
Hopefully, this will only make the Specialized brand even better than it already is and they will set the bar for the competition to drool over.

Hopefully the dealer did not use those particular words with you.

I just looked them up. At those prices, you certainly had every right to expect a great experience.

I summarized my understanding in my words.

The fact that it wasn't a prerequisite before is laughable

+1.
After 60 years of cycling I'm new to these wonderful e-bikes, but have been disappointed by the LBS (more than the nearest, all of them) lack of knowledge, and inconsistent messages, eg; the update you need is about torque settings. Mission Control says it's about 'display'.
I'm all for 'bitching and dissatisfaction' in the hope of improved customer service and product development. I hope you're right that they 'peruse these forums', after all, it would be a cost effective and useful feedback mechanism for them. Alas, I suspect that Specialized, along with most other companies don't grasp this opportunity to easily see how to improve their products and profits.

I've run across a couple very knowledgeable LBS's in the past couple of years. Like anything else, there are good ones and not so good ones. In this day in age I find that my service expectations are met less and less. Very difficult to find good employees and keep them. At this point, I try to educate myself as much as I can on my current bike and future bikes. Fortunately we have this forum for a great deal of specific information. Glad to hear that Specialized is mandating training.

The fact that the cranks on my Creo (other models, too?) are reversible or interchangeable should be something stressed in their knowledge base. That would avoid accidentally reversing them so that the PEDALS are on backwards - very tough releasing SPD cleats that are backwards!!! Ask me how I know!!!!

Kahn: that does not happen to a normal LBS :D Yours seems to be abnormal.
If the training should involve such trivia, it should teach the entire bicycle knowledge.

Actually, they are a well regarded shop. Accidents happen and since the cranks are identical, exchanging one for another was too easy.

Well there must be some difference otherwise it wouldn't matter.
Hope he does better with his shoes in the morning.... Or does he just treat them like his socks? 🙃

Well, yes, there is a difference. The pedal threads in, in the opposite direction for one versus the other. But I gather the cranks just fit. Hence, when I called and mentioned that the pedals were backwards, the guy I spoke with was spooked - that might have meant the pedals might have been cross-threaded into the cranks. It was only after it was at the shop and the pedals were NOT cross-threaded, that someone realized something else was amiss. The cranks could be an were swapped. Left crank and pedal were on the right side and, well, the right crank and pedal were on the left side - resulting in the cleats being backwards. Let me tell if you want to be almost permanently bound to the pedal, just reverse the cleats! I was wrenching and tugging and twisting. I loosened the spring. Still had issues. As I have rehashed elsewhere, I then finally compared the Creo with my other spd equipped bikes. YIKES!!!!

Most things come with instructions.
Most people don't read.
