My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

Definately invest in statorade, you might not need it for your commute but its so easy to do.
100% agree! I’m putting a dual motor bike together. It’s got 2 direct drive motors. Definitely wanting to give 5mil Statorade to each motor. Once I can get around better, I’ll continue the build. I’m using an EVG 24v bike as the donor. lol.

I would be interested in your setup when you figure it out.

I have played with several dual motor setups using the grin tools, would be fun to play with. All my single motor ebikes are just fine and exceed my expectations but Im a bored engineer with lots of free time and an ebike hobby.

Have you seen this video?

This guy made a conversion for a juiced CCX(52V, my bike from 2019-2021) to use a GMAC, my next door neighbor has been using this for 20k miles now, he is the fastest guy I know

Im more about getting a workout than all out speed but like the info.

Right on! Yea, I’ve seen that video. As well as numerous others. That bike pulls hard. Micha (EbikeSchool) has a good video detailing how to wire a single throttle to 2 controllers.

I have a dual 23A BrainPower controller system that I’ll install. It came with a display too. I’ll set the controllers to each 12A. The battery I’ll be using is the one from my ride1Up. I can remove the battery mount so I can move the battery to this bike… as a POC. Id be pulling 24A total which is about what I pull from the battery currently. Depending on the outcome, I might try to install a dual motor VESC with a Cycle Analyst, or maybe without a display.

The motors are both direct drives rated at 48v 1000w.

The squarewave BrainPower controllers are remnants of a scooter I was building. So I can offer them new purpose here. 😎

I have time now, but I’m also less than an abled body right now. Doc says I can’t lift anything over 10LBS. Hopefully in a month I can dig back into this. I have all the parts. I’ll try to take photos so I can make a better build thread than my other one.

I’m not at my PC, but this set up (at 500w each motor) will have almost 15 pounds of thrust more, upon take off, as compared to my 1200w bike. If the EVG 24v bike is up for it, I’d like to give 1000w to each motor. Time will tell.
