Lugging a Motor, Why it's Bad

I purchased a designated small crock-pot. A degreased new chain is hanging to dry in the sun. I also got a big bag of bio-degradable soy wax pellets, used for making candles. The wax just finished melting in the pot. Then I will immerse the new chain in it. I will install it with a new cassette today and it will never get dirty or need lube and will make the new cassette last.

Can you post a link to the wax you use? I would think paraffin is the wax of choice as it has lubricating properties. Basically solidified baby oil.

I have a spare kmc e9 chain and an old rice cooker that I never use so I want to try the magic wax treatment.

I'd done a very, very minor job on Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy; maybe we said a few words on the set. Someone in the above-the-line staff, who was a close personal friend, invited us both to a dinner party along with maybe 8 or 10 other people, that was the only time we really spoke. It was a great dinner-- like so many others I'd had at my friend's house, just a bit better because she was there, a lot of lively banter and kidding around. I always had a lot of laughs at those dinners, but she was extremely funny even off camera, so we all outdid ourselves cutting up and wise cracking. She was very much not acting like a movie star off camera, very down to earth and friendly.

Anyway, about two weeks later, I'm walking down the street with a friend, she spots me, shouts my name, runs up to me and gives me a big hug and a kiss. She probably wanted to blow my mind.

She succeeded.

As a kid we would go to this hotel in M.V. that had a kitchen in each hotel room so we could save money by doing our own cooking. We read books aloud. No TV. There were lots of weird people from California one year making a movie about a Shark. We boiled and steamed our lobsters and clams, while they had mechanical problems with their shark. Later that same particularly weird short guy made a film in my town called American Graffiti.

Ok.... So I did a little research and I'm not reading anywhere that any wax dip will never need to be lubed. At most one said 1000km or 620 miles which is about 2.5 times longer than Boesheild T9 drip on chain wax. I typically get 250 mi. The majority of estimates were more around the same 250 miles for paraffin wax dip.
Then add Soy wax should be avoided as it doesn't lubricate anywhere near as well as paraffin and that it also attracts dirt by getting soft in warm weather with its lower melting point of 120°f compared to Paraffin's 140°f.
So I'm wondering where you're getting your info from?

I'm still going to give paraffin a try as an initial treatment on a new chain, but I'll probably maintain it with the T9 afterwards, especially if it's as I'm reading. My curiosity here is how clean it will stay as the carrier solvent of the T9 will dirty your hands.
IMO... the only way this is worth the effort and be practical is to have at a minimum of 3 chains that you rotate through.

The melting point is 160. It can be touched up with Muc-Off dry wax lube. And it totally stays clean. I am doing stuff that has not been done or documented. I do not need to follow a recipe someone else created to move forward. I screw up frequently. That is how I learn.

Neither do I .. my wet lube followed by chain wax seems to be working great for me and it's nobody else's formula. In fact I'm laughed at for doing it. Just chain lube created a filthy chain, wax after lube is much cleaner or at least appears to be

I concur... and I'm all for thinking outside the box but that doesn't mean what you state is true either.
It's not hard to believe that what is said about soy wax being vegetable base has a lower melting point and is an inferior lubricant. And since chain dipping is so time consuming, why not use the proven method?
The qualities that make it a better candle wax are the same that make it an inferior chain wax.

I mean are we to believe that soy wax melts at a higher temperature in Petaluma than any other place on the face of the earth?
Do the laws of physics cease to exist in your crock pot?
Did you buy your wax from the same guy that sold Jack his bean stalk beans?

My clients like that it is not petroleum because they are a bunch of Nor. Cal. hippies. One bike that came in yesterday is from Berkeley. If I was in TX I would probably use petroleum based.

This is the wax I use,..
It's got the Paraffin, the PTFE, and the Molybdenum disulfide all mixed in together.

I use the Hot Tub method,..

I've got over 3000 km on both my ebikes and the chains look brand new,..

The chains themselves might only have ten or twenty miles on them, but they're not rusty or all worn out at all !!

The advantage of a hub drive, and not pedaling, is that your chain and sprockets last Fer Fukin Ever !!
And my ️'s and pant legs never get all full of greasy crap.

My mother and two of my sisters were in Bermuda with my uncle around that time.
Apparently A Lot of the movie was shot in Bermuda.
They had mechanical problems with the shark there too.

Make sure that your chain is ABSOLUTELY CLEAN before you do the wax treatment.

A brand new chain is pre-lubed and needs to be cleaned.

I use Hot Soapy water, alcohol, brake cleaner, and acetone to clean the chain first.
The chain has to be Parched of all oils, or the wax won't penetrate the metal, and it will flake off.

I didn't bother with the ultrasonic cleaning process to get the extra 2-4% cleaner chain, but I'm not not competing in the Tour De France.
And if I was, I still wouldn't pedal.

I use an old frying pan with hot Soapy water, submerge the chain, and slosh it around on both sides to wash the grit out from between the links.
New chains are easier to clean because there's just a light coat of oil to remove without all the grit.

I have 3000 miles on my current chain that doesn't show signs of wear yet and it's a 1000w mid drive using Boesheild T9 (wax in a carrier solvent). It needs to be applied every 250 miles (2-3 weeks) and though it doesn't attract much dirt, it is dirty to touch. My interest in waxing is to have it cleaner to work with. I know wax is an excellent way to maintain a chain.. But it's also much more time consuming and doesn't last forever.
It's not magical.

I think that you're supposed to polish your car with it, but you could probably dip your chain in it ??

I'm messing with my chain all the time and it's never grimmy.
It's just dusty from the gravel roads like the rest of my e-bike.

I can just wipe it down with a cloth or wash the dust off with plain water.

I don't like how gravel dust sticks to oiled chains and turns the oil into a grinding/polishing paste.
It churns its way into the links and grinds away from the inside.

Grit doesn't cling to wax and get absorbed in the same way as it does with oil or anything "wet".
