looks pretty robust. it was developed with input from an avid creo rider. however i understand that it does *not* separately show RE and main battery levels.

Good news!
Well, if Karoo 2 can show 150%, I would be fine.
Only pity Hammerhead came with the capability only after I have had all three subsequent Wahoo versions :)

Finally. I’ve had my Karoo 2 for at least over a year. Really love it. I never bought the Specialized computer for my Turbo Vado SL. The sales guy said I was making a big mistake. Nope. He had just never heard of Karoo 2.

This "thing" is not a gps but a sensor showing various bike spec while riding?

the k2 is a bike computer. it shows your speed, position, power, heart rate, cadence, distance traveled, maps, directions, battery levels and range etc. at the end of the ride it can upload the data to strava or whatnot.

the k2 is different than the garmin and wahoo offerings in that it’s basically an android smartphone in a bike-friendly package. depending on your needs for a bike computer, that might be good or might be bad!

Latest Wahoo ELEMNT and Garmin Edge GPS bike computers could extract e-bike specific information from Specialized and Giant e-bikes (it is called ANT+ LEV protocol):
  • RPM of the rear wheel that could be converted to actual speed and distance ridden (otherwise GPS is used)
  • Pedalling power
  • Rider's Cadence
  • E-Bike Battery Level
  • Travel Mode (such as ECO, SPORT, TURBO, SMART, OFF)
  • Battery Range (if calculated by the e-bike).
That makes a proper GPS e-bike computer a perfect display for a proper e-bike.

Hammerhead Karoo 2 was missing that capability, and as Mark has just informed us the ANT+ LEV protocol is now in that computer, kudos!
Other e-bike systems such as Mahle X35 or X20 can only extract limited information via ANT+ LEV. Not sure what Fazua or TQ systems can provide in this respect.

I am traveling by air with my Vado SL 5 and removed the main battery and brought just the range extender due to airline L-Ion size requirements. I have the K2 and with just the range extender (no main battery) it does not show the battery percentage (it shows 0% even though the specialized display shows the proper range extender percentage).

I’ve been using this and after a couple of weeks, it has hiccups. Off the top of my head, it looks like the estimated battery range in terms of miles just doesn’t work.

Ok, I believe we all conclude here that the K2 does not see the range extender battery at all. Like the Garmin, it only sees the main bike battery. Wahoo Roam and Bolt are only bike computers I know of that show range extender either separately (like Wahoo) or combined at say 150% (not aware of any bike computer that shows this)

from the facebook creo group:

…detailed video. Setting up the Creo and screens on the Hammerhead Karoo. Gerry contacted them and the external battery is not included yet, but will be eventually.

from the facebook creo group:
On a route, will Hammerhead show % distance remaining and % ascent remaining? Those are lovely for the e-bike when managing battery life/assist. Only options here, that I know if, is % distance on Garmin as a special Connect IQ field but that is it.
