If I change cassette range how do I calculate how many links to add to the chain?

If I switch from an 11-42 T to 11-46 T cassette , how many links longer should the chain be , if any at all ?
I guessing none but since tooth distance on a chainring is always the same you could count 4 teeth and look at how many links take up that measurement. looks like two links to me.

This is something i've had an issue with, none of the chain length calculators were correct for my Box Prime 9 11-50t, by a long shot and i have no idea why, in the end i did it how Box specified; Let the derailleur sit in its default state with chain undone (on the smallest cog, derailleur shifted to that gear too), pull the two ends of the chain together until you move the derailleur about an inch or so from default position, mark the link that corresponds with that position, break chain links off and connect 2 ends.
