Anyone tried a lightweight ebike conversion kit on the Scott Addict?

FWIW the US distributor did quickly answer a few Q I had. From what I could gather from their message the torque sensing function seems to be virtual by combining input from the PAS functions along with a built in inclinometer as there was no mention of a strain gauge type torque sensor. IMO they could better define what "dynamic torque sensing" consists of in their marketing.

Agree. Their marketing is poor. If they got that right, they would take over the ebike conversion market in most countries. Its a bad day when I am the external expert in their stuff 😆

The information you provided in this thread is by far the most helpful that I have found searching the web.

Have you seen the little Truckrun bottom bracket motors? I am trying to research these and get more info, but hit a brick wall. No response from the manufacturer. It is incredibly frustrating.

Nothing that I'm sure you haven't already seen. Looks like they're meant only to supply bike manufacturers rather than to the public. The M11 looks interesting, how would you incorporate it without being able to build a frame specifically for it ?

I am not sure yet how to incorporate it, but would hope that China would design frames to accommodate it for diy builds. I hope it does not go the route of canbus or communication protocol, as that is just annoying. The quicker "right to repair" becomes a thing the better.

It is a healthy unhealthy addiction I think.
I can second that thought.
I ordered a S110 (not thru axle) that had been a demo with only a few miles on it from a reputable seller. Complete with bluetooth display, control button, 10.5ah battery and laced into a 26" wheel. <$350 including tax and shipping so I had to at least give it a try. When it arrives I'll try it in a 26" bike and if I like it I plan to lace it into a 700c wheel. Hoping for the best and will post up my experience, good or bad. Keyde needs more user opinions posted like your helpful comments.

I think I may have found the DIY kit for my Giant Defy (carbon frame). Their website sure doesn't give much information, though.
The site does mention that they are able to build a wheel set. That might be easier than getting someone where I live to build a wheel for me.

What one?

The thru axle Keyde S110? If so from mission motion LLC (he is the US distributor and has 100% positive reviews)?

Either the S110 or the P110. I'm leaning towards the P110, because it has a bit more power.
Has anyone received this kit with one of their wheels? Just wondering about the quality of their rims.
I'd probably buy the kit from China. If I buy the kit from the US I'll be hit with taxes and possible tariffs.
Usually, when I buy something from the US I don't pay taxes or tariffs.

Unless I'm mistaken the keyde web site only lists S110 available as thru axle. P110 appears to be solid axle. Isn't your Giant thru?

The through axle keyde does in fact work very well. I combine it with diy bottle batteries on non X35/x20 eride frames, using the di2 holes for internal cabling. I have attached a pic of this conversion on my moda. The S110 or Through axle is the best suited for this type of conversion as it is silent. The P110 although more powerful is noisy and has more drag.

Yes, my Defy has a thru axle (12x142). So, the S110 is the way to go, then.
I'm thinking of going with the 10ah battery. Is that a good choice?

The S110 is not through axle. You need to order the through axle motor instead. The 10ah battery is quite big. I'd go for 2x7ah batteries, which are closer to bottle sized. The Keyde ones are quite nice, but you can use any 36v or 24v battery to power these motors. If you have somewhere that builds batteries, I'd get someone to make you proper 5ah bottle batteries. They are very neat. However the 10ah battery will fit in the bottle cage fine, and give you decent range. If you are in the UK and want bottle size batteries, let me know and I will price them up for you.

Don't get me wrong, peterecosse is definitely the authority. But copied from a distributer listing of the thru axle motor: "Complete wheel with 500W Keyde S110-TA Rear motor" seems to indicate that the Keyde thru axle version is a S110 with thru axle compatible features vs the solid axle version. IMO Keyde could stand to be clearer with their product descriptions.
My S110 solid axle with 10.5ah battery is supposed to be delivered today, although the seller sent the battery connection cable seperately so I won't be able to test until that arrives. Based on experience with other 36v 10ah batteries that I've used I expect it to be adequate for my use and it seems it should perform well for a very efficient bike like Deacon Blues Giant.

peterecosse, I live on the west coast of Canada.
I was thinking the 10ah battery would be the right size, as most of my rides are in the 60-80km range.
Before I make my purchase I'll check with Keyde on the correct thru axle motor.
EMGX, I'll be interested in see a photo of your bike when you get everything installed. Are you getting the complete wheel/motor kit?

The through axle motor is based on an S110, but if you order an S110 it will be wrong. If the bike is through axle just ask for a through axle motor. Better not to mention S110 in case there is confusion and you get sent the qr axle model.
