Pedego "Error 5" Meaning???

When going up a VERY steep hill, I got an “Error 5” on my display and the electric assist completely stopped. After ~3 minutes and toggling everything on and off (display and battery) multiple times, everything started working again and the bike worked perfectly. It’s weird, tho, in that error has only occurred once (in about 200 miles on my new Boomerang Platinum). Interestingly, I had the same error exactly once in 5500 miles on my Platinum Interceptor at the very same point on that VERY steep hill. I’ve avoided that hill except for those 2 instances.

Any idea what an "Error 5" means? Any idea how to prevent this? I can't find any documentation.

I occasionally get the same error code on my Platinum Interceptor. It only seems to happen when the motor is hot. Error code 05 usually indicates a brake sensor problem though, and I don't understand the connection. When the motor cools down, the problem disappears.

I read somewhere that disconnecting the brake sensor connectors may fix the error. They are located located under the spiral wrap about 8' down from the brake lever. I'll try it the next time it happens. If that cures the problem, it could be a dirty / failed connector or a bad switch in the brake lever assembly.

Thanks for the insightful reply. I agree with you- based on yours and my circumstances, it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with a brake sensor, but rather an overheated motor. We'll see if others have experienced this. Cheers!
