Hello from AZ

My first ebike came with KMC Z series chain with a master pin instead of a QuickLink,..

I didn't know that there was such a thing, or that it was a directional pin?

I almost broke my chain breaker trying to push it out the wrong way.

It's Fricken Amazing how that little lip on the Fat end of the pin can bind So Hard against the plate that it damn near broke my full size chain breaker !!??

I did manage to force the pin through one plate but couldn't get it all the way out.

After it occurred to me that the pin could be directional, I flipped the chain breaker around and the the pin pushed out Stupid Easy. 😁

But the Stupid part was that the chain breaker handle wasn't facing towards me when the chain breaker was installed correctly.
(I think that was done on purpose to make the chain installation process proprietary? 😁)

I often just use a chainbreaker to connect chain ends instead of quick links.

That isn't recommended 😕

@PCeBiker, Yes you need a 5,6,7,8 speed chain. When I make chain book marks that weigh down the pages so I can eat or write while reading, I extract the pin to the outer plate and leave it there. Then to connect I use a channel lock with 10 inch handles to push the pin back in. Finally I use my chain breaker to seal the deal for the correct adjustment.

Look what the cat just dragged in. It has carbon wheels. He had to drive past the Specialized dealer to come to me. It needed a derailleur adjustment gauge.

I tried that.
I couldn't rotate the first plate outta the way to separate the chain,..

Note my chain cooking in the kitchen back in February 2023

Even way back then, I knew to Throughly Clean my chain, "Parched",.. before waxing it.

I don't know what you be doin??

I've never had a problem with chains from single to 11speed using a standard Park as well as department store chainbreaking tool. Need to have a feel for when pin is pushed out enough without completely removing it (although the pin can be replaced if accidentally removed), also need to work chain if it initially binds to loosen up the link. Recently had a KMC 8 chain with some sort of difficult link that had to be twisted, ditched it and connected directly. YMMV

I'm sure that I'd get the same mileage as you.
I guess that I just gave into the hype and warnings too much.

Ya know,
Just to prove your point,..
I'm gunna install my newly waxed, waiting to be shortened and installed, Brand New (possibly fake?) e8 chain the same damn way that You Do.

I'm gunna push a 📌 and reinstall it !!!
Just to be Loud and Proud and say "I don't give a FÚĶ if my chain Kills me today !!@?🙃

I've already got two motors with two locked throttles and no-hands on the bars, so how much worse would an exploding killer chain make??

I just made another Book Stays Open Holder. I will give one to my teacher tomorrow at my artists' creativity class. And I will give another away. All the ladies in the class have Book Stays Open Holder envy. It works because it matches an open book's contours. The class helped me come up with a new motor design.

You're an artsy fartsy type hoping you can give it to her tomorrow, and teach the class a lesson.

I Could Die Tomorrow !!!

I even installed a chainring in place of my chain gaurd just like you said to make everything Extra Risky !!@
😁

I was asked to join that 13-week class. The teacher has one of my bikes and has been following my builds for five-years. She considers me to be a creative maker and a kind of artist. It is a big commitment. I have to wake up extra early each day and write three pages. Then do reading and class exercises. The class is two hours per week and I also have to visit one inspirational place each week. It is also like a self-help twelve-step program to unblock our creativity and it has the word God in it. What I like about EBR is that it helps me to flex and strengthen my 'theory of mind' while helping others. And I get to see real world case studies and how people see then, with peer review.

Sounds like True Love ❤️??
What if the teacher was a guy, or some Hot LGBT woman that used to be a guy?

Would you commit to that?

It is a big commitment.

What if that Big Commitment is a dick that hasn't been removed yet and he/she is looking for a way to pay for surgery 🤔?

Why don't you make your project for the class be a lesson on basic bike and ebike maintenance (that you're so good at) to present to the class so that they can fix their own bikes/ebikes and come visit you after class for "special" lessons?

Twelve steps to freedom from misogyny and you can teach them how to beat you.

Remember !!!

The Female Mind Is Weaker Than The Male Mind when it comes to humans.
Human males have conquered the world.

That's been proven over the eons, time and time again.
Except in the Amazon where the women are both Really Smart, and Really Dangerous cuz they could kill and eat you, but they're Super Hot 🔥 and Sexy, so who wouldn't mind being eaten by a gaggle of Hungry Hens 😜 😉 😋??

And I get to see real world case studies and how people see then, with peer review.

Let each student (soccer mom) review your technique, up close and personal with a one-on-one visitation from each woman who needs a fix, and needs to critique you 😀
