Watt Wagons new display - colors and UI layout feedback

There are two trains of thought for displays, big and colorful, or small and black and white. I think the small ones are better if you are doing things with your Ebike that increase your chance of a crash, so you don't smash it up, but if you are just cruising around big and colorful is my choice, I think WW is on the right coarse on this one. He could give the option on the FS for a downgrade if somebody wanted it, but on the new step through I highly doubt people are going to be doing super fast speeds on single track which can cause wipe outs.

If your going to ride like this the big screen is not for you

Can be small and color too like the 500c, and damaging in a crash not really playing into my preference for smaller screen with integrated buttons. My small Juiced display will get trashed just as easily if not more so since its hanging out more to the edge of the bar. For me its about less clutter and wires (Separate buttons from display) and where do I mount my smartphone when there is already this smartphone sized thing right in the middle of the bar. I def like having my phone up there for nav, weather radar, and texts etc, even better if it can display more in depth details about the bike if needed, while the built in display just tells me the more common info needed.

Apps can be updated more easily and frequently than display firmware so you can have more extensive features there while keeping the display simple and reliable.

Again just my preference.

My personal preference is some thing like a paper white kindle. All the colors make it difficult to differentiate in the sun.

I will say my monochrome Juiced LCD has no problem in the sun, and a nice subtle blue backlight for night:

Eggrider has nice high contrast monochrome OLED display:

Common theme here is small bike display with controls, large smartphone in the center.

I find the egg rider unreadable in bright light and moving. I finally gave up and took it off.

I am looking forward to the big colorful display. I used to want a small one because I thought it provided a stealth look. Now I just accept I am riding an ebike, who am I trying to fool?
