Using a Pet Trailer with a Ride1Up Turris?

You could buy a bike for your dog,.

And get this tow bar for it, then your dog won't fall over and won't have to pedal. 😂

Long ago, I read a book called " Zoo Vet," by David Taylor, which has stories about his work. He said that when he arrived at one town, he was met at the station by a chimpanzee on a motorcycle, and that the chimp gave him a ride to the zoo. Everybody I've mentioned this to is extremely skeptical, to say the least. But everything else in the book seemed legit, so I'm inclined to take the guy at his word. Anyhow, I prefer to think it is a true story. I mean, who wouldn't?

Just googled this book and read some reviews, one of which confirms the story of his being chauffeured by a motorcycling chimp.

The Burley Coho XC pictured in this thread is a fantastic trailer but it costs almost $500. It also has a built-in kickstand that keeps your bike and the trailer upright when you aren't on the bike. If it were me I'd also look for a pet crate that would fit inside the trailer as well.

You also need to purchase an adapter for your axle on top of that. But again that trailer is awesome.

If I had a small Dog I would try to have it sit in a Firmly mounted Wire Basket before the Handlebars so we can see each other. In my case we have a Doberman (14 mo. old Dober-Fraulein). I have a Cargo Trailer but have had no time to figure out how I can Harness her in the Trailer to be sure she is safe and comfortable while riding in it.
Cheers

I don't think animals are stupid.
I think humans are stupid for thinking that animals are.
My belief is that animals of all species have exactly as much brain power/intelligence as they need--except I'm doubtful about humans.

I'm also dubious about trees; look at the precarious places where they sometimes decide to take root.

Do humans eat dragonflies?

Yes, they do.
Here's the list,...

We've transported our 15ish lb dog 2 ways... folding crate on rear rack and backpack. He prefers the backpack. On the crate we have to use restraints so he doesn't try to jump out (esp when he sees other dogs).

I was thinking, for larger Dogs in my case a Doberman perhaps one of those hard plastic Kennels loaded onto the Bike Trailer (Dog Crate) with a Door would work. No restraining Harness required. Needless to say a very thick Foam pad would be a must to absorb the bumps in the Trail.
Cheers

Okay, so.... it's been a while. Bike is working great (I still need to post an experience & review thread) but the dog situation still unresolved. I did try a backpack, but for one thing he kind of freaks out when hoisting him up and letting him down. Also, given that he's around 18lbs, I discovered it's not that great lugging him around on my back for very long! I never actually even tried riding with him, just a few test walks.

So I bought this barely used trailer from someone locally, and am trying to figure out how to get it attached to the bike. It seems like a different attachment than the one I first posted about, so I'm not sure if I still need an adapter or which one to get. Here are some pics plus screengrabs of the lame instruction manual.

So, I think I still need this adapter to attach it to the frame instead of the axle?

(and not this one, which seems to be axle mounted?)

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions, but after a while my brain rebels and I don't even know what I'm looking at!

And here's a pic of the finished bike:

That looks right to me.
I'm pretty sure that you can just remove this bolt from your trailer and remove the spring from the attachment,..

Then you slide the spring of your new adapter into the sleeve and thread the bolt back in.

Hopefully everything will line up and the spring is the right diameter and length to fit into your trailer spring sleeve.

The original spring on the trailer is a different kind of spring, but the new spring might fit?

Actually,. looking at it again, it looks like you should be able to reuse your original spring?
If you remove this bolt from your new attachment, you should be able to insert and bolt in the original spring from the trailer?

I'm pretty sure that one way or another you should be able to get the clamp on adapter connected to your trailer.

Cool, thanks. I'm wondering if the spring was for an adapter the previous owner used, actually. She said she had an ebike and said she needed an adapter to connect the trailer, but couldn't find it.

My adapter is mounted to the axle, so it has a quick release pin to remove the trailer and leave the adapter bolted under the axle nut.

It looks like the frame clamp adapter is completely removed from the bike frame and doesn't need a quick release pin.

Does your trailer feel pretty stable with the axle mount? I'm wondering if frame mount is better. They're way more expensive for some reason.

The trailer feels fine and I only feel the weight when I'm pulling it.
My trailer is kinda cheap junk though that came with warped wheels and crap tires (kinda like plastic kids bike tires).
It clips together all loose and rattles when you pull it.

It works though, and I'm not trying to pull it across the country.

I'm thinking that the frame mount mechanism is more expensive to make, and I don't think you've got clearance for an axle mount anyway?
(And you'd probably have to drill out the axle hole bigger like I did to fit the bigger ebike axle.)

I think not having to mess with your axle is worth the extra money.

Edit: It looks like you do have enough clearance for an axle mount, but I'm agreeing with Ride1Up and that's a Bad spot to mount the trailer.

The mount would be sandwiched between the axle nut and the torque arm.

I installed an axle mount on my e-bike, but it's an old piece of junk and I don't care if I spin the axle or the trailer falls off. 😂
