Turbo Vado Front Rack

I am attempting to install this rack on my wife's Como. Sorry, late to the party. Not sure yet if the cable will be long enough. I will definitely go the MIK adapter route even for the included plate since I have other baskets which she will need to swap out.

Curious at what your final decision was on the washers. It looks like the two top screws get two washers and the bottom one gets the smaller washer.......

Install the bracket with one washer and before you decide how many washers to use... look and see if it is pointing straight. Mine was off and I was able to get it pointing straight in a few tries. It being straight is paramount to getting the headlight to be straight and the rack portion is long enough where if it's off at the bolts by a little it will be off by a lot where the headlight attaches.

Thanks for that. It looks like a fair amount of left/right adjustment so I will need to take my time. Hopefully the cable is not an issue.
 
Another late arrival. I just bought a Vado 3.0 and a Como 3.0 and a Turbo front rack to be fitted to the Como. I bought the front rack from a third party (BikeInn) as Specialized are out of them all across Europe.
Fitting the rack was relatively easy to figure out with the help of the contributions here (thanks). The four round head screws are for securing the backplate. I used two plastic washers each for the two longer, vertical screws and the round metal washer for the shorter one at the bottom, which adjusts the angle of the rack to make sure it’s straight (the four shorter screws and oval plastic washers I ignored). There was plenty of wire tucked into the frame for the front light and with it fitted to the front of the rack I could run the wire into the track under the rack with no problems. There was also a Plastic plate with “SRSuntour” written on it, which came in the original ‘bits box’ for the Como and fitted perfectly into the space left on the frame when I moved the front light.

I only have a couple or rather general pictures. I'll attach them here but they only show how the rack looks overall (unfortunately I'm not currently where the bikes are so I can't take any new ones). What I did recently find on one of Specialized's support pages (but I have no recollection which page exactly and I can't currently find it) is a full guide to fitting the rack. I'll attach that here as well (if that's against forum rules I apologise).

My only problem on my wife's Como is that I had to extend the cable for the light (it looks like you had more than enough). While doing so I disconnected the main cable to the motor (which has a handle to help pull it) and failed to release the plastic locking tab which broke. The cable appeared to have enough insertion force without the tab locking it so I just re-assembled and it has not caused a problem since I put it back together.
 
I have just had a front rack and plate fitted to my Vado 5 IGH. It was quite the palaver but I’m keen to share…

First, the adventure plate isn’t generally available here in the UK - I had to order in from Europe through BikeInn (good service).

I had the same issues fitting it as mentioned here - the front light cable isn’t long enough - so I got on the phone to Specialized customer service. The guy there acknowledged that they don’t fit right, and an extra cable length is needed for my model.

The extra part is serial no. S236800005 and can be ordered from Specialized (pic att).

Fitting it requires some specialist knowledge.

The Specialized rep sent it to me at no cost (rrp £5) and arranged for my LBS to fit it under warranty, which all went fine. The LBS said fitting requires some breaking down of the motor housing, soldering off the new part and heat shrinking the wire cover. Took about 2 hours.

So now I have the plate fitted, and very nice it is too. I’ve stuck some neoprene on it to stop loose items rattling, and use adjustable bungees when the net is too big. It was a pain in the backside to get fitted, but it’s a useful addition.
