A friend is looking for a good bike computer up to USD250. She needs to know her speed, time & distance ridden. The thing has to record her rides and export data to Strava. Maps and GPS navigation are optional but welcome features.

As I am foreign to such stuff (using e-bike computer and smartphone myself), I'd like you to illuminate me and advise some good bike computers not being overly expensive. Let us say the Garmin Edge 530 is a tad too expensive. What next?

Why not just use what you do? Seems like its always the "Best"

I used a garmin edge 25 which I recommended back when you made that statement (still use it today although its been discontinued)

How about this?

Although you're "ignored" LL, I do listen to a good advice. What are strong and weak points of Garmin Edge 130 Plus?

To answer your trolling part: My friend rides an unequipped traditional bike (and she has limited funds) while I currently ride two fully equipped e-bikes, each of them featuring top-end electronics. Both of e-bikes feature the best bike computers, including cadence and rider's power readouts and recording. Accompanying app BLEvo extracts the bike, GPS, and HRM information, and exports the ride data to Strava and even to Excel. I prefer smartphone GPS navigation with large colour screen and audio directions; and I can afford carrying a powerbank.

My friend is not as fortunate as I am though.

P.S. You better replace your avatar with some update :D

the garmin explore is not a bad computer. it has its glitches but works decently and it has a touch screen and that makes it far easier to use. Also the right garmin watch is a great way to go if you don't need to look often at a display. they will also get your HR

Below is a comparison list of Garmin’s current fleet that might shed some light on what specific features she might be interested in. Budget wise, the 130 + and Edge Explore seem to be the logical choice for her immediate needs. Pricing is in Cdn $$.

Forgot about Bryton’s lineup as well. No hands-on experience with these but they offer affordable units and receive some decent reviews.

Another ignored person which your ego won't really allow you to... Any attention is good attention. 👍

The Garmin Edge 530 is currently on sale for $250 (as of today, I think). I just bought one.
