Talk me in or talk me out of this bike .

Price isn't everything. What's the warranty on the bike?
Biktrix is known for their support.
I can attest to it. It's email/phone and you have to do the work but they will send parts and work with you.

If your goal is to buy an entry level and upgrade, save up and buy a bike that doesn't need upgrades. This is an entry level which may be very difficult to obtain support when needed.

I've watched videos on the tube unboxing etc . It looks and seems to work good . It has Shimano gears and derailleur etc . I was just wondering if anyone on here has actually bought one and what they think . Off road mountain biking is not what I'm looking for as I am almost 72 years old but I do ride some dirt trails and in the desert . I have 5 bikes now but none with dual suspension . If I could find a dual suspension analog bike I'd pull one of my bbshd out of one of them and call it done but when I do find one its as much as this one . Thanks for the replies .

Edit : I have also given some thought to a Suron with a peddles kit on it , they seem to be little beasts . Would get me and my bad hip where I need to go fishing .

Using that battery, betting you'll struggle to make 20 miles with it...

The Sur-ron is a different beast all together. It's really a dirt bike. Pedals on it are just for show. It's up to you whether that's what you're looking for.

If you are handy and know how to work on bikes, that build looks to have decent components (what is listed, anyway), and the BBSHD is a common kit motor. You may save some money up front.

I would note, though, that it is not as quality a build as the Biktrix Ultra FS. The Ultra is a better motor than the BBSHD, and has a torque sensor which makes a HUGE difference to the biking feel on a mid-drive. Biktrix has custom tuning on it that improves its smoothness and efficiency. The Ultra FS has a better motor, better battery options, much better derailleur. The build doesn't list what the front fork, rear shock, and brakes are (I wouldn't trust the photos) - I'd assume the Biktrix parts are probably better, maybe substantially so.

Finally, you get really great support from Biktrix, and a community on here to back you up if you run into issues.

So it may be cheaper, but it's not like the higher price of the Ultra FS isn't buying you anything.

I just went to the Bitrix site to buy one but they are sold out of the black in 17" frame . Not sure I can live with the brushed aluminum .

So how do you like it? I bought the Ultra last year and now I'm buying the Ultra FS.
I should have bought a different brand . This whole experience has sucked . I think I'm going back to my AWD from Eunorau and call it done .

The Eunorau has no torque-sensing, its like a step backward. If you buy a mid-drive ultra-motor bike and add surly Bud/Lou tires it will have better traction and a better ride. I'd never go back to cadence sensing and the 4" tires can't compete with true FAT 4.8"+. In snow, in sand, over roots soooo much better.
