My battery charges to 54.0 volts with my charger.
My controller cuts power at ~40 volts.

My controller can cut out at ~43 volts if I'm pulling a lot of power from the battery.
The voltage sags down low enough under power to cut out the controller.

I shutdown and restart my e-bike, turn my "Throttle Gear" down to 2 or 3 (from 5) to reduce power demand and voltage sag and I can keep going under power.

I only need to pay attention to the voltmeter when my needle is in the yellow.
That's when I need to start pedaling/and/or turn down the power.

Draining the battery slowly increases the available power that the battery can deliver.

I can watch all this sag and lag and make my own determination of when I should head back home.
Old batteries, cold batteries, big batteries and small are all different.
Every trip is different.
The voltmeter remains the same.
Wind is my biggest factor.
I head into the wind on my way out and let it push me back home.

Unfortunately, that VU meter is no longer available.
It was made in Oregon years ago.
The company is now defunct.

I still want one.

It's apparently used for golf carts.

Cockpit? I'm showing Stefan what cockpit is on Da Island. I prefer to call it instrument cluster or forward display. @Court let's call it something else but not cockpit. I suspect this came all about when Court started saying Cockpit on his reviews on Handlebars displays.
Minimalist is what I got. There are tire sealant inserted at the end of handlebars complete with gaff all nicely secured in an aluminium canister.

Mostly stock with 3 noteworthy additions/replacements:

1. The $20 Lamicall phone holder (left of display) has exceeded all expectations WRT phone security, ease of use, construction quality, and value.* Phone hasn't budged over tooth-rattling cobblestones, miles of beach cobbles, and some very bumpy roads and trails.

2. The adjustable Any Bottle Cage mounted on the front rack on the right really does take any bottle from standard bike water bottle to a rigid stainless thermos (seen here with black cap) to a 28 oz. Gatorade. Strong twist cinch, no groove on bottle required.

3. The loud ROCKBROS dual bell covers my gear indicator but small price to pay for the added safety.

* Was holding out for Maus to make an Interlock case for my Android phone but reconsidered after borrowing my wife's Lamicall. No way the Maus system could be worth 6x more.

Ha! Thought the same thing as soon as I took the picture. Twist ties adjusted now. Fixed.

I installed a new controller and the display cable was about a foot and a half too long, so I wrapped it around the steering neck a few times, and zip tied the junction to the neck.
I just had to leave enough slack so that I can turn the handlebars all the way.

PS,.. Zip ties look more professional than twist ties.
(I used the cut ends of a HUGE zip tie to mount the coil to my steering neck rack bolts. I used a hot nail to melt holes for the bolts.)

They've also got these pretty sleek looking stainless steel cable ties.



They also come in black.

One technique I developed and used to use was to slide shrink tube onto the offending wire and then pull a figure-8 of wire into it. This lays flat and is much better than a coil. Here you can see it in sliver on an all chrome bike from 2019. Look at the down tube just up from the bottom bracket - see the 8 flat in shrink tube? Try to get it away from the HB/cockpit. The second photo is of a more recent Bafang BBS02 build. The weird wire to the left is the fork lockout.

My cable goes inside the down tube and I thought about doing a figure-8 (or figure-16 lol) inside the tube, but I was worried about the tight bending radius with 9 wires inside the cable.
I could have coiled it up under where the kickstand attaches too, but decided against it for the same reason (and that's kind of a messy exposed space as well.)
