My Trance spent the day at the LBS where I had them chasing an electrical gremlin. The bike shut down and refused to communicate with the shop’s diagnostic software tool. Giant recommended a new wiring harness in an attempt to solve this mysterious issue. Then without a hint of work performed on it, the Trance powered up the following day all on its own. No error codes were reported and all sensors checked out fine. I’m still befuddled by this anomaly but the shop released the bike so that I could ride it before returning it to have the new harness installed next Monday. I was told to stay on the MUPs in case another power failure shut the system down. I followed their advice for the first hour but decided to play devils advocate and took to one of my favorite single tracks. The bike made it through with flying colors but I must admit that I will likely experience a bit of anxiety every time I ride it even after the warranty repair is completed. :confused:

It would be nice if they could have a definite answer. Whenever I hear of "wiring harness" replacements, I think "someone is guessing", although at least they are doing something...

You and a few other members with MY21's have had similar issues - all on Pro motors I think.
@DaveMatthews - what's the word on your Stance?
@LouLouLePew hasn't had his resolved yet on his Explore, although our ride yesterday was without any incidents, and I think his Sunday ride out in Bragg Creek was OK too.

In regards to video, I wonder how wide the average handlebar is on the local trail building crews.
I sure see why you cut yours down, although the camera probably makes those gaps narrower than they really are.

I've had this ready for a while and perhaps today is the day!

I couldn't agree with you more. I just hope that it doesn’t turn into a saga where I’m constantly shuttling the bike back to the shop for repairs particularly if the concern is one of an electrical nature. The additions of shims, new harnesses, adjustments of latch mechanisms all seem to have given rise to mixed results. 🤨

Go for it. Knocking off an inch or so from each end of my bars did it for me though you may opt to be less aggressive with the pipe cutter. Your also right about the camera POV being somewhat deceptive. Kelvin left his Levo's bar width stock and it doesn't appear to affect his riding style. Mind you, he is far more adept and experienced at negotiating the trails than I will ever be.

My Stance is still in the shop now waiting for a wiring harness. When I called this past Tuesday I was told that Giant is swamped and that it might take a "while". Not sure what that means. I do have patience and still have my Fathom to ride, but at some point my patience will run out. He did say he'd try to escalate my issue.
PS @RandallS my motor is the Sport variant.

The odometer is correct according to GPS when wheel size is set to 27 instead of 28"
It's hard to tell how much charge is left in the battery, it is a 48v 10ah LiFePO4 that charges to 57.6v full, drops fairly quickly to 53-54v then just sits there. I assume that when the battery capacity gets very low it will just drop off quickly. The display voltage always reads 1-1.5v below the actual voltage (also checked with a high quality digital meter).

Specialized Epic Comp FS with BBSHD, Lekki Bling Ring 42T, and em3ev 17ah. Great for light trail riding or nice comfy commuter.

The tech at the shop where I dropped off the Trance discovered a corroded connector below the charging socket bracket which he feels is to blame for the Trance’s brief but unexpected power shut down. I believe it’s the main power wire coming directly from the motor. He cleaned the affected connector, applied dielectric grease, updated the firmware and installed the new wire harness. I’ll pick the bike up tomorrow morning and give it a thorough test ride. Big thumbs up to Don at Red’s in Lacombe, AB for sleuthing the mystery out of this specific bug.👏👍
